Thread: Disarming shot? What's it do?

I'm in-game right now with a fellow pistoleer (he's master, I'm novice). We're trying to figure out what disarming shot does. We know it used to knockdown, and we heard a rumor that now it hurts the target's gun -- lowering its condition -- but we've tried it on each other and nothing special has happened. Our guns' conditions stayed the same and there was no real effect to either of us. So, can anyone tell us what exactly it does? Thanks.

disarming shot does double damage on lairs

I believe the general consensus was that it does jack and squat, much like the Master special. I've been told people tend to use Disarming on lairs, but nothing much else.

I think this skill should target an opponets weapon in pvp and do damage to it. Then we can watch everyone run in fear of pistoleers. Nobody will use their uber krayt weapons against us and it will level out this profession in pvp. Or, a better idea... Have it do what it says it does. Have it unequip a players or npcs weapon in combat. Why name the special that if it does not do that?

i think it should ummm "DISARM" the person. it should have a chance 25%, or so, to take the weapon out of he persons hand and into the inventory making them equip it again. just a thought

^^--I use disarming shot 1 since disarming shot 2 sucks the ham from you and no difference in damage. Plus, only 1 shot gets fired and less chance of spawning creatures to attack you...Disarming shot 1 and 2 are bugged, suppoesed to do what is says "disarm" does crap to people in pvp that I have used it on..


To win in pvp I sugest... **burst run**, melee defrense 1, health shot 2, stopping shot,stopping shot,stopping shot,stopping shot....shor have no prob. and in most cases they die without deathblow

disarming shot used to (august timeframe) work on npcs...you could disarm shot when they were 50m away, and they would switch to a melee weapon and run at you instead of firing back. they very rarely switched back to a ranged weapon, and always after 5-10seconds if they did at all. i don't know if this works this way anymore.

that would be sweet, but then guns should have more HAM then they do... i could take one out in 2 shots or less.

Kiernan, that is what I have been saying forever now. If its called DISARMING shot then that is what it should do. Not extra damage, not KD. If they don't want it to actually "unequip" the weaopon and I can think of a few reasons why, then do this. Make it a delay like warcry does. This will give the "EFFECT" of being disarmed. If you have your weapon knocked out of your hand that means you are not attacking for a bit until you pick it up or get another one. This effect would actually be useful and helpful to the pistoleer, OMG. Imagine that.


Why are the pistoleers taking the fact that it does squat, and think it's OK for it to do damage to a weapon? So what? does that really help you in the current battle, no not really. sorry but it wont keep people from using their great uber weapons in PvP. And it won't help us in PvE a diddly so its not a good idea.


Make Disarming shot1 a 10 second delay, and disarmingshot 2 a 20 second delay, just warcry 1 and warcry 2. This not only makes sence because of the "effect" I stated above, but is useful in both PvP and PvE. Its' more useful to a ranged combatant then a KD also. Who care if I knocked them down? If I'm shooting them with ranged all it did was make them harder to hit. Melee are the ones that get big damage increases when they attack someone prone, not us.

This would also make getting Panic Shot (which is a 10 sec. pistol delay move) pretty useless.

I still don't see why they don't modify the code for disarm that exists in EQ which causes your opponents weapon to fall on the ground in PVE or go back to their inventory in PVP. Disarming shot should do just that, hopefully it will get fixed like the rest of everything that is broken then mabey people will stop crying nerf everything.

Hey Javilin, thats not our problem, this is the pistoleer forum not the smuggler forum. You can get either of those professions with out any of the other, and so you can't cross compare their specials. Sorry.
