I'm 1041 bh 3043 pistoleer and I thought those +40 stun, dizzy, blind and that +50 plus kd would really help in pvp.

Guess what it doesn't do one thing for me I get KD and dizzyed just as easily when I didnt have that defence.Every time I fight there's always some guywith a kd and dizzy their first try I get kd and dizzy easily and I stay dizzy and kd able to do nothing. What's the use of bh skills if my pistoleer defence isn't working and I get kd and dizzy.

Make your name in your sig, then you wont have to type it out every time you post.

If you really want your defences to be effective, you should combine it with another profession. With my template, I am very rarely KD's or dizzied. It's great.

well, you need to have a certain level for any of the def vs **** mods to really be a help to you at all. For pve, youcan get by with what you have, but for pvp you should have no less than 70 and that's just to effectively defend against stun, dizzy, kd...etc 50% of the time. The optimal number you need in pvp is at least 100+....but since you are a BH, you are out of luck since BH def sucks. The only way you can have exceptional or even good def mods is to sacrifice some firepower (BH)and stack 2 or more professions or a more expensive way is to buy SEA's (then you can keep BH)if you have the cash.

If anything, you want to get as much def vs dizzy and KD as possible if your gonna pvp.....that's about 99% of pvp opening attacks....dizzy and kd you.....so you have to defend against that.

This is one reason I don't like BH because of all the skill points it takes......

Buying SEAs for state defences is old hat. All you have to do is find your local Chef

Ithorian mist -- +50 to Def vs Dizzy (at least)

Thatkilo -- +90 to Def vs KD

If you aren't eating Chef foods to give you the edge, then you aren't ready for pvp

I feel your pain man, I just gave up BH pistols and went back to my old template. Wasted a week of my life grinding it back. The problem that is often overlooked is not the KD dizzy combo per se, what was really a bane for me was the posture down dizzy. The dizzy food may help that but thak does not. At least it did not for me.

Plus I believe bh pistols is overrated. Really if you get enough speed to get you from 74 to about 87 to 89 you are almost capped at that point with everything but the really slow guns.

Also, +22 ranged defense and what 45 or so melee defense stinks. Howerver, I have master pistol and the defense you get from pistols are great, just cannot stand by themselves. Fencer defenses by themselves lacks somewhat. You always need to couple them with more defenses from other professions. That is why BH stinks in pvp because you get very little to add to your pistol defenses.

Rifle is so effective because not only do you get the firepower, but you get the defenses to go with it.

I wouldn't say they are worthless. I remember hunting Nightsisters with a fellow TKM / Commano back when they still had force kd. He was getting kd 3-4x more than I was. So while they may not be the best out there, they are far from worthless

One reason that you do not do well in PvP is that you have not even mastered a profession. You should master pistoleer and keep BH pistols 4. You will get +105 dodge at master pistoleer which may just save you from a dizzy or KD, but your best defense is to stay out of melee range and kite. Sure the melee types will hate you and call you a kiter, but who cares when they are headed to the cloner. Pistols are the king kiter class.

Chef food is a good idea, but for someone like me who uses my stomach filling for mind, will, focus enhancement and synthsteak among other things.....using chef food for def vs mods that you can easily cap by stacking with another professions and add SEA's with that is better. That way, you can have your def vs mods high as you can get them, have your mind, willpower and focus boosted on top of entertainer buffs (powerboost if you have tka) and 40% synthsteak which further reduces damage taken.....overall, your defense will be good and you will last longer in pvp with the boosted mind stats since that's what most people target in pvp.

the good news is that BH will only require the exploration line as a prerequisite for bh instead of master scout pretty soon. So that's 42 more skill points freed up to dabble with and boost BH defense.

Oh yeah, KD and dizzy aren't the only things you need to defend against.....stun, blind and intimidate are some other area's that you should defend against also.....the real pvp'ers don't just depend on KD and dizzy......for instance, I'll intimidate, blind and stun you first....makes dizzy and KD stick much easier, lowers your opponents attack rate slightly, makes them miss more than normal, halves there damage output and so on. doing COB, having high def mods, high MD and RD, one of the profession specific defenses (block, dodge, counterattack, combat equilibrium) and you will have a significant edge in pvp.....sure it's hard to get all of them to stick....but it's not that hard.

A real defense is a well rounded one as well as a smart person behind the toon.....good luck!
