I did it by getting in squill groups on tatooine. Much easier that way when you don't have the armor and money for buffs yet. If you have armor and buffs, you could probably just go off to Dantooine and do 5k quenker missions easy enough.

The below is taken from the PistoleerGrindingGuide writen by Randonb the pistoleer correspondent.
"All I've got with me is a Survival Knife and a CDEF Pistol. I don't mind a grind, but SOE'd better issue some hardware."
Lucky you, Weaponsmiths are all masters these days. Powering through the Marksman levels isn't half as hard as it used to be. That CDEF is fine for awhile, but it won't be long before substantial upgrades are opened up to you. You'll probably have to drop by the Bazaar to find a weapon you are certified to use, as Weaponsmith vendors seldom stock newbie weapons. Keep an eye out for the DH-17 Pistol (beware, there is also a DH-17 Carbine). As soon as you can, the DL-44 Metal is a suberb newbie weapon.
Proceed to kill the riff raff that spawns outside most major cities. Gubburs, Thugs, various butterfly things, whatever. They respawn quickly and die even faster, earning you themostefficientexperience possible. When these stop paying good experience, proceed to kill random missions on any non-adventure planet. You'll need the cash.
This was over a year ago, but I found the best things to kill were enraged durnis (I spent all my newbie time in and around Coronet).
Alternatively, you could just get buffed and go kill quenkers on Dantooine, but I've never tried that as novice marksman before, so can't comment on how well you'll fair.

Heh, I didn't see the novice part. Get your first two boxes by killing everything around the starter cities, shouldn't take long. After that you can do what I suggested.Get a fast scout pistol as soon asyoucan, I was flying though pistol exp once I bought one of those.
An easy enough alternative to going to Dantooine right away is to get buffs/armor and kill gurrcats/dire cats on corellia.
If you can't get the buffs or armor yet, try to get groups that actually hunt as a group. That way you are less likely to take hits, and you will get a lot more exp that way than hunting solo.If you get in a squill group, be prepared to die a few times. Just head back to the group after that, you can heal up later. The exp will be well worth it as long as your group has some competent tanks and medics.
I suggest getting novice medic for a while, even if you don't plan on keeping it. The ability to heal youself is very important at first when you can't afford buffs and good kinetic resist armors. Novice scout also, if you want. Mask scent will keep you alive longer while hunting in groups when using a pistol. Plus you can use the meats you harvest for medpacks, or the bone and hide for camps to rest up between lairs. If you get some good qualitymeats, you can even sell them for a nice profit. Any way to make money at first is good, as that's when it's the hardest.

It's an AoE attack that does mucho damage. This means that the mobs will fall before your might. MUAHAHAHAHA!
