I have a BE/CH. I decided to go pistoleer mainly because I am usually pretty close to the critters when the DNA sample fails, and I was hoping to attack the same pool my critters were attacking.

I took some advice here to go up the pistol techniques tree. I can only go up one tree in pistol.

But I cant seem to see why I would use the following attacks.

Disarming shot:

But Disarming shot, Double tap and Stopping shot dont seem to do much more damage than Body shot 2. I find myself using Body Shot 2 almost exclusively. Stopping shot seems to do more, but at least with body shot Im focussing on one pool at a time.

Is this the case for you as well or am I missing something. Possible state affect what? Im hoping fan shot turns out to be as good as people say or I just climbed a tree for nothing!

I hear you on this one. I rarely use Stopping Shot, never use Disarming Shot, and I don't see much utility for Fan Shot in PvP.
If I was BE/CH, I'd be doing mainly PvE support and I would find the most use from the Pistol Ablities line for speed mods and KD.

you may want to try healthshot 2 that will do even more damage.

Fan shot can be extremely useful in PvP if you have a dot pistol...I swear sometimes I do not get deathblowed because people think I am a cm!!

Disarming shot is only good for killing lairs. Fan shot is good if you want to take down a squad of stormtrooper that tend to stay close together, or there is nothing else around that will be agroed by the cone effect. It sounds to me like Health Shot two will be you bread and butter as it is for most Masters most of the time anyway, so I would go up the techniques tree. I woud instead go for the Dodge ("Grips" I think) tree or maybe get some accuracy in th marksmenship tree.

The defenses in the Tech don't help much in PvE unless you master, and most of the specials in the Tech tree are broken, plus the fact without speed bonuses you will be tapping your fingers on your desk waiting for the special delays to tick off, while your combat log reads as follows:

Miss

you get hit

you get hit

Miss

you get hit

you get hit

fanshot hits for 1050 points

you get hit

you get hit

miss

If I were you I would considergoingup either the accuracy or speed tree (the speed tree gives a KD). Just spam healthshot2 which you get at novice. It's really all you would need.

Why wouldn't you go the techniques tree? In my opinion if you can only take one tree this one would be the best. Not only do you get fanshot which is VERY useful you also get the geonosian sonic blaster and ranged mitigation 2. The sonic blaster is the best pvp pistol we have right now and can also be useful for pve and ranged mitigation can drastically cut the damage you take against ranged attackers.

I don't think his template is set up for pvp. Mitagation is only good for pvp. Personally I would geta melee prof, something like Swordsman, they have better melee defenses.

actually the melee defense from swordsman is worse than what you get in pistoleer, but anyway..

Mitigation isn't only good for pvp. Many npcs have blasters and mitigation can help reduce the damage from them. Secondly by getting the techniques line you get a bunch of very nice state defenses. Fan Shot is also an amazing attack which could benefit you great since you can easily get many targets inside it's cone with CH. Don't forget about the sonic blaster either, if you ever want to pvp this weapon will take care of most situations.

Fan Shot would be a good choice, particularly given the big pets you get to hide behind. Back before the AT-ST nerfs, I used to join groups where we would have the AT-ST attack the lair.. after they mobs all started wailing away on the pet, I'd spam Fan Shot on all of them at once and never get aggro. Still works, as far as I know.

Agro in this game is a little wonky..
