Thread: Everyone just drop your ranged now, and pick up Fencer or TKA :)

Normally I do not like to rain on somone elses parade, because frankly kiting *has* had to be dealt with for some time....However, over recent months the devs solution to kiting has been to baisicly increase the base power of meelee classes, so much so that *any* range class that stands next to meelee is just dead meat.....
If they make a change, allowing meelees to "not be kited" while not changing back the utter insane defensive/offesnive values meelee have over ranged users, then there will be *no* point to being a ranged user in this game...So without blasters, what should we name SWG?

I might be overreacting because I can not see TH's "big picture" but with nearly every other person I fight now being some kind of meelee, if they lose their only real disadvantage, then I can not fathom why anyone would play anything else?
I'm a ranged/melee profession and because of it I've never had an issue with kiting much. If they try to kite me I whip out my pistol and shoot em in the arse. If they get too close I go melee mode and whoop up on em then they try to run again lol.
I am perfectly happy with the way ranged/melee work now. I feel anyone has the option to get whatever skils they want and should not complain if they are melee and get kited. It's really their own fault for putting themselves in the position. It should be if you are ranged your advantage is just that range. If your melee your advantage is that you kick the ranged ass if they get in your range.
I agree racc, My final build will be meelee+ranged, because that is just optimal......The best in all situations.
Range=Better far away
Meelee=Better up close
Which is great, however, if they make it so "far away" loses its advnatage, and anyone can be "up close" then I would have to say my ranged class would be a waste of skill points ![]()
Yeah I only picked up a melee class cause it seemed the best to go with my ranged class to maximize my offensive and defensive power.
Melee is so fun tho man I love kickin someones ass up close cause they had no clue I was also melee lol.
Plus melee fighting just looks cool with the animation.
kiting is a non-issue. Sorry folks. Melee Lunge 2 has a range of 20 meters and knocks down. In a mass pvp setting, it isn't hard to get close. (I can pistolwhip any fool I want) In a 1-on-1 setting, just surprise him with a burstrun. Before he figures it out, you'll be within 20 meters.
Don't want to look like a troll, but the problem is solved.
Super flying hyper kick! Meleers will be able to extend their legs by yelling "Go go gadget side kick!". This is part ofSOE's big plan to make SWG feel even more Star Wars like. Hurrah!

that TKM was also a master brawler. the 20m lunge is in the master brawler box.
They are also fond of doing warcry and putting a ten second delay on you.
Not like they really need it though. Dizzy + Lunge and you go down and never get back up.
The most common tactic I've seenmelee folks use: wear a novice (anything but melee tag), shoot once at someone with a pistol to get their attention. Run inside a building and hope they follow you inside. If they do... it is over.
Never chase anyone inside a building if you are a ranged person. Not even a cantina dancer. Don't go into the spider's parlor.
lunge 2 is a master brawler skill, not everyone has that. that said, i agree with everything else.
I do not have a problem with lunges
......They were put in to help stop the kiting....
But the history so far has been....
Meelee make complaint about being kited....Devs make them stronger....Still being kited....Make stronger...
Finnaly this cycle will end, but now that the meelees are *alot* stronger then any ranged user up close, AND they will be able to close the gap, I have to ask, why use guns? All they will be is less-damage fists with lights coming out the end ![]()
