Thread: Toning down weapon effects?

Is there any way to tone down the firing effect of a weapon? I mean, some guns have really cool effects, but flying with them in any kind of TIE means the laser is right under your nose and the giant flashy flares in my windscreen make flight nearly impossible, I can't see where I'm going, and some are borderline seizure inducing.

Two main options;

1) If you are flying e.g. a Krayt, put the guns with the big flash on the wingtips or somewhere out of view of the immediate cockpit. This solves the problem.

2) If this isn't possible - i.e. you don't have another suitable slot for the gun to fit in, then try turning off bloom in the graphics options. Not ideal, but short of a different gun or using the flashy one with an RE job, not much else you can do I fear (

Third option, zoom out to third-person view (not that I care much for that).

You would have to reverse engineer that gun with another one of the same RE level that has not so flashy effects (you have to use the same amount of guns as it's re level, so for RE level 3 guns you have to use 3 RE lvl 3 guns). I hate this flashing too. After 4 hours in space my eyeballs almos start to bleed because of that. To remove this effect make sure that shipwright you give your parts to puts the desired efect weapon into his analysys tool first.

I have come to hate my first REd blaster because of this. The base gun is a Scorcher 3, which means that I get a lovely little strobe light effect on any TIE I put it into. I've pretty much banned it from most of my ships, although I find that I can still use it on my Dunelizard and Rihx, since they have gun slots sufficiently far away from the cockpit. I am not VERY careful about firing effects.

Of course, this helps me absolutely none in regards to both the tractor beam and mining laser. I absolutely cannot use the tractor beam without lagging myself to hell and back, and the mining laser is only barely tolerable.

Well my screw up was REing the L7 Ion Cannon (reward item) and using it's effect. I thought having the reward effect would be nice since it's a little more rare, and others I'd seen in DS had it, and it looked neat... from the outside. From the inside however... ugh! Flying the RGI is even worse than normal as I now have FOUR giant swirly flashy pulses every third of a second. I have another batch of L7s ready to RE though (thank god) but none with a dmg as high. Even my second Ion Cannon reward item has nearly 800 less dmg. At least the mass is right.

I have the same problem... it was fine in my xwing but it is blinding in my JSF and almost any tie.

Yeesh, you ought to hear my X-Wing with three of those things.... Earth Shattering Ka-Boom doesn't begin to describe it, its like the 1812 Overture on triple time. The flash is no fun either. The only advantage I have is that I fly almost exclusively in 3rd person. Only when I'm gunning on my POB with the Purple HazePaperclip Shooter (i.e. The "Null" Bolt) do I get the full dazzle effect.

/grumble

Just did the quest a second time with my alt, got a 2500 max dmg Ion Cannon. I was hoping for something close to my previous one, which came out 3200 post RE.

yea kind of reminds me on enchanters on dark age of camelot when we would PBAE (point blank area effect)

the graphics was a bright white ball around your player and you could pbae about ever 2s (very nasty spell up close)

bad enough with 1 or 2 chanter now picture a raid with 60 chanters all pbaeing in the same area lol i dont think my eyes will ever be the same and yes on some raids we would have close to 200 players in a battle group.
