Thread: Mos Eisley, New Players, and JTL
Smugglers Alliance was always a popular squad but the number of new SA pilots I have seen lately seem to far outnumber any other squad. The other two squads on Tat are Crimson Phoenix and Storm Squadron. Phoenix might be the hardes Alliance squadron. I've done it and it is much harder than Havoc which I've also done. I've familier with Vortex because my wife has done Vortex twice. I've also done all of Smugglers A except the Admiral Burke missions and it wasn't that hard. Storm Squadron however is suppose to be the hardest squad in the game. I haven't messed with it yet. I've flown in Black Epsilon wich seems pretty darn tough and Inquisition with is pretty darn easy. So what we have is the plannet all the new players get dumped on and the hardest squad in the game. I've seen a ton of TIE light duties above Tat since the new players got dumped there for their KOTOR quest. However I'm hardly seeing any Imperials anywere else. PvE or PvP all I'm seeing far more Rebs and freelancers in other space sectors. Heck I've seen more rebel JSF pilots than I've seen Imps at all. I'm starting to feel Storm Squadron + New pilots = JTL washout. It's true the survivors of SS are likely going to be stronger pilots but I think a lot of Imps are going there just because it's on the noob plannet then getting washed out by the SS program.
shoot down a Tier 1 ship. Tatooine has always been bad on Bria, but since the CU/RotW, Mos Eisley has become laggier than Theed and Coronet were combined.
Despite this, I don't believe that the location has anything to do with the swelling of SA pilots. If you check the stats on the Friday Feature from a few days ago, you'll see that Smuggler is the 14th most popular profession in the game. And if you look at who has attained mastery of their professions, rather than just dabbling, they move up to 8th place. If that doesn't mean anything to you, allow me to clarify.
Smugglers, who have been completely neglected and (two years after the release of the game) STILL cannot actually smuggle anything, are the 8TH most popular profession in SWG. Just imagine for a moment where they would sit if the class was actually working. As such, by sheer virtue of the squadron's name, Smuggler's Alliance is going to take the lion's share of the pilots, no matter what planet people start on. Despite overwhelming denial of this fact from both the devs and the Jedi community, it is obvious that Smugglers, not Jedi, are truely what makes Star Wars Star Wars.

Dumping all new players into any one city is a bad idea. I'm working on SA right now, and the lag is absolutely killing me. I can't do two missions without having to restart my computer. All those people in the cantina (most of them AFK, /grumble) eats my memory up in less time than it takes to
shoot down a Tier 1 ship.
Dumping all of the new players into one city is good and bad. On one hand it gives players one spot to meet, greet, recruit, buy and sell. On the downside you've got the lag.
As for dropping new pilots on the "hardest" squadrons I think that is a good thing. Why baby them? Send them to do the longest most horrible missions out there. Why? Because it will make better pilots. Those players who find space to hard or who aren't vocal enough to ask for help will land and never come back. Either way you are getting only dedicated pilots who will only make space that much better. Nobody wants to shoot down some halfass Ace who got all their xp in a turret and/or by doing the easiest missions. I want to fly against a pilot who is going to make me work for the kill

well on our server it means us imp pilots will get some target practice when they all hit ace, there were very few rebel pilots most went freelance or imp, even fewer engaged in space pvp, but now there is i saw the most rebel players ive seen in ds yesturday 3, 1 got me thoughhe pleaded for his life so i left him, some seconds later i get a spacebomb up my rear, not fun, on a side note is there anyway to target enemy players, its annoying trying to find them whilst getting shot by all the npcs and trying not to drift too close to the rebel station
Dude, never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever show mercy in Deep Space. Its a PvP zone, and nothin's sacred. I've had ONE case where an Imp Pilot let me have a minute to test my B-Wing against the ISD, and this was AFTER he sent my big ol' whale back to Dantooine with me throwing him a /salute.
Any other time, its understood, your farming priveliges in Deep Space are ENTIRELY dependent on your ability to fight off players to stay there.
