tier 3 storm squadron is rough, indeed. But with 1 or 2 seasoned pilots (or 2 or 3 pilots of your level) the missions, while long, do get finished and it is a great accomplishment indeed.

What are you flying? you can use the heavy TIE if you can afford it... that should be a bit zippier than a TIE bomber.

Play the game or don't it is what it is and will never be what it was for better or worse. I intend to play the game as long as it is fun, that does not make me a fan boy of brown noser. I know the game has it's flaws, but it serves no purpose to dwell in the past.

Yeh having just completed SS I can tell you the buzz of satisfaction beats anything else in the game. I havent completed jedi though and I am sure that is a bigger kick.

Storm Squadron is a serious pain. Seriously, I do not recomend it for anyone's first pilot squadron. If you're determined to go through with it, I make the following recomendations:

1. Befriend higher level pilots. If this is your first squadron, you'll need this.

2. Resist the urge to get the ships box first. Skip over the equipment box, too. You want the astromech box. As soon as you train that, get a v4 Flight Computer, and find a Freelancer to give you Reactor Overload 3, Capacitor Overcharge 3, and Capacitor to Shield Shunt 4. Program Engine Overload 3 and Weapon Overload 3 yourself. This commands will make several worlds of difference.

3. If you have the funds, buy a Heavy TIE. Imperial ships are good for maneuverability (most of the time), but horrid for mass (again, most of the time). The Heavy TIE has both, and will serve you well all the way through. They're a bit pricey, though.

These three tools will help you get through Storm Squadron with no more headaches than are absolutely necessary. Trust me, there are enough necessary ones in that Squadron, no need to add more.

all im flying at mo is still the tie/in and a very poor one at that have had to sacrafice almost everything just to get shields that can standup to multiple tier 3's and a decent dmg weapon

Ummm no. I know a lot of "Jedi" who would not make it through the first Tier 3 SS mission before they gave up and went to another squadron. Funny how a great number of"Jedi" went up into space after ROTW went Live and leveled just enough to get the JSF. While many of them will probably complete the squadron they were in at some point, theywill most likelynever grind another squadron or two or eight. Oh andlevelinga Jedi is really no longer an accomplishment either. As far asI am concerned, the grind has been made far too easy for anyone to say they "worked hard" for it and feel a sense of accomplishment.

Oh and you have to have 1xxx Imp Pilot to use the Heavy TIE. I just had one of my alts switch from Neutral to Imperial pilot and wound up using a Heavy TIEall the way from 1xxx to ACE.

Ok, I'll admit right off the bat that I'm a space noob. Having been a ground veteran for a long time, I've forgotten what it was like to be clueless. That being said, I think I'm taking to my space-wings well. And then I reach my first Tier 3 Mission for Storm Squadron. Ugh. I can handle the first waves of X-wings, Y-wings, and Z-95s without a scratch. Not a problem. But when the A-wings start swarming on the second part of the mission, I soon find myself floating home. Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Should I take out the escorting A-wings before disabling the hijacked transport? Should I simply disable the escorts rather than destroying them? Should I be using my Heavy TIE or my TIE/In? Should I beg some guildies to help me out? Or should I quit Storm Squadron altogether and start over with an easier Squadron?

I pardon you.
