I am kinda a noob when it comes to space, and have a few questions.
I have done the Tyrena/Lok missions, started the first Yavin mission and get spanked by tier 2 Imps.
1) I am 2/2/2/2, my first question is in order to get 3/2/2/2(to get faster/manuverable X-wing) do i have to do missions or can i just get the exp? This would solve question 2
Just missions.
2) At my level 2/2/2/2 allI can really fly is the Y-8 longprobe, I get spanked by Imp tier 2's when more then 4 appear because they are so much faster I can't even get a good target on them.
If I drop to my Z-95 for speed I get spanked because I have little mass. How did you guys deal with this problem?
The longprobe can be a good ship, but you need a good strong engine, try a player crafted. Alternatively, find a Heavy Z-95 (95k mass). Or find someone to fly with you.
3) How do I fire missles? Does my ship just have them or do I need to buy them?
Yes, you buy and load a launcher and missiles just like any other component.
4) I have read that all Tier 3 boxes are from missions, is this true? So since I am at Yavin all I should worry about is doing the missions?
Very true.
Any help here would be hot, I am stuck at this point.
Thank you,
Evole

Tier 3 is all missions. You can only advance by doing the missions.

I would recommend asking for help from another pilot if you are unable to complete a mission. Sounds to me like you need a serious upgrade in your equipment. Try to find a good Shipwright on your server and stock up onsome better components. Look for an engine with a high Yaw and Pitch with decent speed. If you can't find anyone to help try reading thishttp://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=pilot&message.id=13083" target=_blank>Pilot Guide
3) How do I fire missles? Does my ship just have them or do I need to buy them?
You need to buy the missles. You also need to buy a missle launcher. I personally have never had much use for missles other than PvP and attacking the corvette.

Yes

Go 2322 and not 3222. A longprobe with level 7 parts is superior to an X-Wing with level 5 parts. I used a longprobe to go all the way to 4444 and my friend rode hers until master.
A Heavy-mass variant of the Z-95 you might find preferable to a Y-Wing Longprobe
They're a little hard to find, but I'm sure if you contacted a SW in person / email you could arrange it somehow. I got mine by bringing the asteroidal resources needed to make it to a SW friend of mine. If you can't afford to buy the ship, maybe you could do some missions and give them some loot to RE in return? If you find the right SW, I'm sure you could get one.
If you DO get your hands on one of these ships, you might find that 2322 might make things easier.
If you're really having trouble with some missions make sure you have a droid interface and astro droid / Flight computer (depends on what ship you're using) with Capacitor Overload 4 + Shield Shunt to help soak up some damage. WO3 and EO3 speed things up a bit too. After you figure out how all those things work, if you are still not doing well, you might need to bring a friend along. Tactics play a BIG role, but its a little tough to learn them at first, having a friend there to help can speed things up for you.
In order to get missles you need to buy the launcher from a Shipwright, as well as matching missles for it. You can't fire Mk3 missles out of a Mk2 launcher for example.
As a rebel you have a big advantage if you're short on money, one of the special pilot abilities we get is the In-Flight Reload. Missles and Countermeasures on the ground cost a pretty penny, and for good reason, hard to find good reasources in the large large quantities needed to meet demand. So you can use this ability to reload your empty missle launcher and countermeasure launcher (but you need to have a SW bought pack loaded and used first AFAIK)
Good luck

If the OP is THAT unhappy with maneuverability, 3222 works well enough. It's what I did first time through, to get OUT of that Y-Wing! This time around, I'm 3/4/3/3 in the Longprobe, and just put in the L8 reward engine, L8 reward shield, and L7 and L8 reward guns ... it should be fun seeing how it handles.
First time around I did the same thing, I was sick to death of flying that Y-Wing. Handles like a block of granite.
For playing a supporting role and working with others, its still a viable ship, but by yourself...I dunno. It lack maneuverability and has a huge profile. Y-Wings are one of the easiest kills to make in PvE, but thats not really saying much I guess.
A Y-Wing with a RE 10 engine with huge PYR would be fun to try though. I'm sure a L8 will work almost as well though.
Happy Hunting, let us know if you've rediscovered some use for the Y-Wing ![]()
