I am sorry if this is a noobish question - I have chekced the stickies but they are many and where they do do talk about this issue, they seem ambiguous.

My questions are:

How does decay work in space?

Does it affect ships?

Does it affect components?

Can decay be repaired (as on land)?

Can repairing components/ships destroy them, as can happen to weapons/armour on land?

Thank you.

My questions are:

How does decay work in space? Decay takes effect when a component on your ship is damaged, and you must repair it. Nothing in your inventory (no ground items) will decay.

Does it affect ships? The ship chassis will decay if your chassis is hit while in combat. I am not directly sure on how much decay happens so I will let someone else answer that specifically, I don't want to tell you wrong.

Does it affect components? The same thing that happens to chassis happens to your components. If your shields fail and your armor is gone, your components are open to damage.

Can decay be repaired (as on land)? When a component or chassis is damaged, speak to your closest spacestation. They will offer you the option as to how much you would like to fix (25-100% of the damage - always choose 100% fix if you can afford it.) Dantooine space station will only fix 75% of the damage so your best bet is to hyperspace to a different system and repair there before landing. Or, alternately, you can buy a ship repair kit and repair your ship components within the "Manage" window on the ground through the starport terminal.

Can repairing components/ships destroy them, as can happen to weapons/armour on land? I believe at this time, the components will not actually be destroyed, but will get down to very low HP rating, meaning after your shields go, 1 hit and your toast. This also means that when you become master and run Engine and Reactor overload 4 in deep space you won't be able to with highly decayed components.

Thank you. np hope I helped.
