Thread: A friendly warning concerning the word 'Jedi' because I care.

As of late, I've been seeing posts concerning 'Hey FS skills should be allowed in space' etc and basically as soon as this happens, the piloting community breaks out the hatchets, stokes up the bonfire and proceeds to summarily execute those who agree with this... WITCHCRAFT....
So, I have this as a warning before you enter yon Hamlet of piloting goodness.
For the love of all things non Jedi...if you're new to the piloting profession, don't mention adding Jedi powers to space. You will only end up being the host of your very own public flogging. Unless of course you're some kind of masochistical forum contributer who likes reading 9 pages of abusive feedback from the yocals

.This isn't trolling..I mean, I love Jedi..they heal me on the ground more than doctors do. In fact..where have all the doctors gone anyway? However...reasons why Jedi powers in space or FS XP in space would really not be good.
1. Basically, its all a matter of balance. Any pilot worth their weight in space debris knows that space is a little unbalanced presently. Adding jedi powers to space would be considered as a gross misbalance and on a par with E-pulse 3. For those of you who don't now what E-pulse 3 is..well....just imagine a button which kills anything during pvp effortlessly. An 'I win' button if you will.
2. A lot of pilots fly because space is void of anything Jedi related [apart from the Jedi fighter]. That ship as it is, is considered very unbalanced so imagine that....plus Jedi powers. I'm fairly certain most pilots would just give up and cancel if that were the case.
3. Kindof like no.2. Pilots like space because it's a twitch based game. It relies on -your- skills as a person to be good at it [even with the current imbalances] and most of us are proud that we soloed our first piloting profession without any training wheels on our fighters.
4. Simply put. You do not NEED jedi powers in space in order to excel in pve. PvP wise...jedi powers are just out of the question, it'd just stop anyone from dueling ever again because it'd remove the skilla spect. Pve wise though well...a. there are hundreds of pilots willing to help you in space, b. with these new rotw ships, you're basically invincible from the word 'Go' if you actually learn as you progress anyway so why make it easier?
5. FS XP....well, if that were utilised in game well...Myself and every other pilot who flies as their 'main profession' would be jedi several times over in a short space of time..EVEN IF there was some kind of ridiculous FSXPilot xp ratio implied in practice because simply put...you get to a certain point where you're killing high level stuff in pve so fast and not dying that no realistic ratio would matter.

So for now..mainly because I can't be bothered to type anymore, thats it.
I just felt someone should post somthing...because I don't want to be harsh to Jedi or even make this forum look anti Jedi. They fulfill a role on the ground fine, but they have no place in space when it comes to powers and ships. If you're a Jedi and want to fly...that is cool, seroiusly awesome. Come see how fun this piloting profession really is...I'll help you grind etc if you're a Rebel alligned pilot on Bria...however, please leave your force powers at home...

If they added Jedi skills to space, to enhance the Jedi's twitch skills, i would be cancelling immediately.

Im a Jedi in the sunrunner galaxie and i agree whith both of you it would inbalance the PvP areas. That and it wouldnt be fair for the non-jedi players.

Agreed, Jedi using Force powers in space would unbalance everything.
Not only that, but the consequences would hurt too. Besides everyone not wanting to duel in space, it'd had visibilty and space bounties, and my RP ship (YT-1300)would never ever leave the hangar.

See, I would just think if you're new to flying, don't post until you've got some experience. Half of the idiotic threads around here on jedi skills or PvP reduction or how badly designed JTL is come from new pilots. Get Ace, maybe get it again, read the threads on the board, then post something.
If one of our vets posts some well thought out argument in favor of jedi skills, we might actually listen. We'd still tell them it's a stupid idea, but we'd at least listen. I'm sick of these new pilots who don't know what they're talking about spouting off in 20 page threads. Worst part is if we let them get away with it the devs might actually listen to them, as vocal as they are.

Jedi are welcome in my sky, preferably Rebel and overt ones, so I can at least show one faction's showoffs they're not masters of ONE domain in this game.

An added note: every Jedi has an alt, and having bonuses for Jedi would mess the Jedi's flying up if they use both in space in different ships.

Besides, in ep 3, obi-wan and anakin did all their flying with no force powers. just their witts.
I know the game is not canon, but hey, we gotta keep some starwars stuff in this game......

you know what, im not a jedi on any server, but i think jedi could use some skills in space as long as there was a cost,
armor only(no sheilds)
anyone on any side can kill you at any time
double the ground xp loss
edit: also they get their own color on the radar, so everyone knows to slap them silly
edit: as a final insult, whoever shoots down the jedi gets 10% of their credits

Force powers have no place in space. The only example of the force in space was when Luke took the shot that killed the deathstar, and that was only to shoot the missile at the right time, NOT to make his shields or armor stronger.
Obi-wan and Anakin did not use any in space.
Leave the force on the ground where it belongs.
