Although I've had an account for a littleover a year now,I am new to JTL. I read in the instruction booklet that I can install a flight stick and a throttle if I wanted. I don't like the keyboard thing and I belive more realistic controls will lead to a more immersive experience. So what set up would you reccomend? What is works with the SWG system? Looking for Ideas here. All feedback is welcome

nice...thank you for your time and attention. So do I just install the equipment and forget it or is there a set up screen to calibrate?

Just so you know, Microsoft no longer makes any joysticks and stopped supporting their SideWinder product line since last Sept.

I use the Logitech "Extreme 3d Pro", which is a fine joystick with a damned silly name.
The reasons I like said joystick are:
(a) sturdy
(b) lots of buttons to program
(c) It translates twisting the joystick as "roll". No idea what the industry term for that is.
Plug it in, load up the setup software and play SWG. It detects the joystick and you're ready to go. Obviously, you'll want to rebind the buttons to your preferences though.

CH, Microsoft, and Saitek all make really good joysticks. I use a MS Force Feedback 2 with all the force feedback crap turned off since I don't like wearing a wrist brace. I personally favor the MS joystick. If you want a rudder setup you will be using something from CH since they are the only ones that make such things at an affordable price. If you get into the Professional Sim quality of yoke/rudder etc etc it will be better for flight sims but terrible for games. if you just really want the rudder on the floor instead of the hand twist and a separate throttle I would go with CH If you are left handed go with the Saitek. If you want all the bells and whistles and a sore wrist go with the MS.
