I know from reading the boards that everyone is greatly upset by the recent publish. Now the hotfix is already up. I haven't had a chance to login to see if everything that was broken has been fixed. I am sure it hasn't.

The broken things in this publish affected gameplay for everyone in some way. This is not the first time stuff like this has happened.

love SWG a lot. I want to see this game improve and get better. Not drop off and die because of incompetence in the developer ranks. I personally feel that what we should do is start an email/ letter campaign to all the various gaming magazines and websites expressing our displeasure for the game, its developers, and the customer service (or lack thereof).

You may all say this is stupid. I'm just explaining my idea to you, because the only way we'll get SOE to do anything differently is if enough people email these magazines and websites. If only a few of the really big names out there pick up this story and run with it, SOE will bend over backwards to hand out proper compensation and improve the game.

Err...well that's the ideal situation anyways.

Please help spread this around.

What, exactly is proper compensation?

If you're in the US, and you're paying for the most expesive subscription to SWG, you're paying about 50 cents a day. So if you can't play for 2 days, you want SOE to send you $1?

No. Proper compensation is fixing the game. It is putting out the best possible product and backing it up with appropriate customer service.

SOE needs to retrain it's staff appropriately. That is proper compensation.

This is a buisness. A buisness aims for profit maximisation. If this means making a sub-par product with lower costs, so be it.

That's just life, I suppose.

Anyway, its pretty obvious that SOE havent completely missed the point of the changing player demographic (adults who stick with the game are leaving and being replaced by children who who stay for a long time) and the bad press. How else would you explain all teh professional revamp work going on and in development. Whether it works or not is another story.

You may find that pilots are a diffrent breed... you may also find that I do not agree with your demanding tone.

You are playing this game of your own free will, just like the rest of us.

You speek of compinsation, what gives you the right to demand anything?

If the game is not worth $15.99 don't pay it, that is the only message any publisher understands.

P.S. I am not going anywhere soon, though if I did I wouldn't make a big stink... maybe say good bye to a few friends and then fade away...

Hmm Im a Pilot and In reallife if My planes not Rite I demand they fix it. But thats my life on the line there. Yes Fixing things rather than Pushing new things to fix is what I support. And anypilot that thinks otherwise. Well a fool soon parted with his or mommys money I guess.

But SOE is Big Business if we all canceld say on Bria. They wouldnt look at it as OMG we lost X amount of paying customers. They would see it as We just saved X amount of money to repair the server.

I'm a pilot in the game and I am not satisfied with the product I have bought. What demanding tone do you speak of? Read my original post. I presented an idea. I asked for help. I did not demand. I posted later to answer a question.

You may not understand how big business works. I will help you out. I did pay for this product of my own free will. That is what gives me, and all the players of this game, the rightto make demands of SOE. They guaranteed a product. They are not upholding that guarantee. Our $15 gives us the right to not only ask for, but demand good customer service. That is why we pay $15. We pay for content, we pay for customer service, and we pay for maintenance.

I am not getting my money's worth because SOE does not provide sufficient services from any of those above three categories. Neither are you for that matter.

I will offer up a comparison. Imagine going to Best Buy and buying a laptop from them. You take that laptop home and open it. It falls apart, fails to start, whatever problem you want it to have. It really doesn't matter except that the thing doesn't work. You take it back to Best Buy and ask them to fix it based on the terms of your warranty with them. Stay with me here, Best Buy does nothing except offer you bad advice such as: Check the power cord, make sure your monitor is plugged in, make sure it is out of the box, make sure you open the laptop. Useful advice if you have never touched a computer before, but useless to fixing your problem. Now, would you just stand back, say "ok" and go home with your borked laptop, or would you fight and demand to have your laptop fixed under the terms upon which you bought it?

You won't bend over for Best Buy, don't do it for SOE. Just because there is not a physical product does not mean there is no product. We pay $15 a month for a reason. I want my money's worth. The attitude of "Love it or leave it" helps no one.

PS. It is good to hear that you are not leaving the game CityHall, because neither of my posts advocated leaving the game. Nor did I mention that I would be leaving the game, because I am not. Were I to leave the game, I would not make a big stink about it. Thankyou for reading my posts critically and offering up your opinions. It was greatly appreciated.

If the bit in red is how you feel then contact your Trading Standards/Consumer Rights Authority of whatever country you live in. FYI in the UK (as most other western countries) consumer rights are a "higher" level of law than the EULA (as long as you didnt break the game yourself of course), so dont worry about that.

However, dont tell me, that I personally should complain about the game, because tbh, its not that much money to me and its not THAT bad (and i think they are beginning to try to improve things in a much more aggressive manner) that I feel the need to take drastic action. If you arent willing to take action yourself, beyond spamming the same message on every board, then dont expect us to fight for you.

If you're fed up, quit. If you're not willing to quit, you're not fed up.

Really, it's that simple. This is a game. If you don't enjoy it in it's current state, stop playing and find one you do enjoy. I won't claim that everything in SWG is working perfectly, but it's working well enough for me to enjoy it. Back before the CU when it was not working well enough for me to enjoy it, I left and played another MMO for a while.

Fact of life: You will NEVER play a perfect game.
Ever.
Really.
Never.

There will always be something that is 'unbalanced' or bugged, or nerfed, or just plain dull. You can keep spamming every board and thus annoying the entire playerbase, or you can accept that and decide if the game is 'good enough' to keep playing.

(I might also suggest getting familiar with what 'compensation' actually means)

I am going to repeat this again. The whole attitude of take it or leave it is horrible and does nothing to help the situation. Why do I need to leave the game to be upset or fed up with the way the playerbase is treated. It really is not that simple. I really can't understand that people are so willing to just give up their customer rights for this game.

My intent is not to annoy the playerbase. I am trying to rally people together in a joint cause, to collectively show SOE that we are not happy with shoddy service. I work in a very customer service oriented environment. Our number one goal is to make sure our customers are as happy as possible. We do as much as we can within our power to make sure we do right by the customer. I cannot understand how SOE got to be a multimillion dollar company without understanding that the customer should come first.

I don't know about you, but I read the patch notes. Nothing in there looked like it should have broken all the things it did. I have played pre and post CU. The bugs are no better now than they were. Combat is more balanced in a lot of ways. Even then, there have been a lot of fixes and balances to the combat professions since they were supposedly upgraded and balanced.

Compensation comes in all forms Nacoa. It does not need to be a physical item or even money. I personally would feel compensated for the issues with the gameif SOE made a public apology to it's playerbase and showed a renewed and concentrated effort to improve the game and the customer service.

CuchulainnDarklight I apologize if I have annoyed you. That was not my intent. Like I said, I am trying to rally the playerbase together in a show of displeasure for shoddy work we have been subjected too. You have clearly noticed my message on other boards. I am just trying to spread this idea to the greatest number of people possible. I am not trying to get anyone to fight for me. I am trying to get people to fight with me. Despite everything, we are a community in this together. I am suggesting a course of action. I am not trying to tell anyone what they should do. Thankyou for your idea though. That was something I did not know about or had considered. I will have to do some research on it.

This is the only board where I have really gotten much response. Like I said initially, it was just an idea.

Then you should know that getting a large amount of people opposed to the CU with game press notified and such didn't change squat about SOE's plans.

And SOE got to be a multimillion dollar company by putting money first, not the customer since us gamers have been bred to live and accept bugs anyway.

Game subscription would have to be $150,- a month with the same amount of players to deliver a bugfree product btw. Since no-one will pay that, it'll take 1 or 2 more years to get the bugs out.

Final point: Group XP changes, rumor has it that 10.000 to 20.000 people cancelled their subscription within 24 hours. That's the only language SOE understands. So cancel your account and list Pub 24 as reason if you're so upset about it, then something might get done about it.
