Ok, I searched the FAQ but I didn't find this one. Probably because I'm simply being stupid...

How do you get into space? I'm in Bestine...I just got my TIE and my first mission...but I can't go anywhere. Could somebody help me out a little?

Go to the starport, there are ship management terminals there. Use one of those and launch your ship.

Come up close to the Station, hit C to target it, and type /comm or SHIFT-C (or CTRL-C, I forget) to talk.

You'll get a menu to chose from. Might have to hit ALT to engage mouse-pointer mode to click on the menu.
