Thread: ARC-170: Where to skimp for 3 weapons?

Hi all,

Was kinda hoping to get some advice on what components to skimp out on when it comes to kitting out my ARC-170. I'd like to get all 3 weapon slots filled up, though I'm not terribly concerned about missiles as I rarely use them. I'd like to be able to keep a nice fast, agile engine in there for positioning purposes, but everything else is up to debate. Any suggestions?

Oh, i'm 4/3/3/3, almost 4/4/3/3

It's 120k mass, why should you have to skimp on anything? Unless you want to put in level 10 weapons.

Nevermind, I found that looted components thread by KaylBreinhar that shows ideal cert levels for specific equipment. That should narrow down my search abit. It's hard to find just the right component when there's no way to sort by specific stats.

If you are going to skimp on anything, I would do so for the last weapon in the chain. It's not extremely likely that you will always have players in both gunner seats and thus having a lower powered weapon there won't seriously negatively impact overall combat perfomance.

Put your best available weapon in the primary slot, a good weapon in the second slot and a lower mass/energy using weapon in the 3rd slot.

Beyond that, pack in what you can to keep yourself comfortable.

Go and have fun then!

Change the loadout from time to time too - you don't need that third weapon if you're only going up with one person. Swap it out and throw in a better shield or engine.

Skimp on armor, always add armor last especially since armor does not drain reactor, fit whatever armor you can.

Ladies and gentlemen of the supposed jury, Chef's attorney would certainly want you to believe that his client wrote "Stinky Britches" ten years ago. And they make a good case. Hell, I almost felt pity myself!

But ladies and gentlemen of this supposed jury, I have one final thing I want you to consider: Ladies and gentlemen this [pointing to a picture of Chewbacca] is Chewbacca. Chewbacca is a Wookiee from the planet Kashyyyk, but Chewbacca lives on the planet Endor. Now, think about that. THAT DOES NOT MAKE SENSE! (Background: Damnit! What? He's using the Chewbacca defense!) Why would a Wookiee—an eight foot tall Wookiee—want to live on Endor with a bunch of two foot tall Ewoks? That does not make sense!

But more important, you have to ask yourself, what does this have to do with this case? Nothing. Ladies and gentlemen, it has nothing to do with this case! It does not make sense!

Look at me, I'm a lawyer defending a major record company, and I'm talkin' about Chewbacca. Does that make sense? Ladies and gentlemen, I am not making any sense. None of this makes sense!

And so you have to remember, when you're in that jury room deliberating and conjugating the Emancipation Proclamation... does it make sense? No! Ladies and gentlemen of this supposed jury, it does not make sense.

If Chewbacca lived on Endor, you must acquit! The defense rests.

This is a good idea, didn't really think of that. I'm primarily hoping to use it to power some space newbies through Tier 2 to try and entice some folks into space. Tarquinas is next to dead as far as JTL is concerned.

Just remember powering people through the early stages doesn't help them become good pilots. They don't learn key skills when their butts are locked in your turret seat, and you may end up having the reverse effect of your desire. They hit the wall of harder missions, and give up in frustration, or you end up having to hold their hand all the way to master, then they give up in boredom or you go insane answering things they would have figured out on their own in tier1.

I avoid power leveling the unitiated whenever possible.

What I'm thinking of doing is offering to power any Tier 1 pilot through a tier 2 box of his or herchoice. I remember being awfully disheartened when, as a newbie, I realized I had to grind out each and every box of tier 2 separately. Before I thought once I hit 60k xp I'd get all 4 boxes I don't want to power them all the way through tier 2, aslike you say, they'll be poor pilotsin theend, butjust a box or two to help them along their way, and maybe make the experience more pleasant. My end hope is that those people go on to do the same for others, and so on and so forth, and we don't have so many pilots give up before they manage to get to tier 4.

I use my ARC to train people. I've taken a few pilots to DS to show them step by step how to take apart a vette. Sometimes if I'm in a good mood and we can't get a full crew together, I'll take it up to help someone with T4 experience.

I'd cut out the Pilot gun before I cut out rockets, but I use the ARC in interesting ways.
