Thread: What's the point of ejecting???

Sometimes you simply don't have a choice. If you get disabled engines out in the middle of nowhere and the guy who shot you up just leaves you to rot without finishing you off, you need to eject to get back to a station for repairs.
Well there is that, but be very careful and only hit the eject button once.
If you know you're going to die, ejecting early can also save your components some damage.
As far as I know ejecting does not damage them by itself. So instead of waiting around for your chassis and components to take enough damage to die from, you can eject and start over as soon as your chassis takes damage. Thats usually when the eject button pops up. For non-Reb pilots (meaning no /vrepair) this can be helpful if your engine still is working and you're hoping to limp away to Deep Space to repair.
I've had a situation where I was trapped in Deep Space in a crippled A-Wing. I had no guns, minimal engines and the hyperdrive sequence was bugged and wouldn't work. I tried everything from ramming the ISD to insulting a TIE Aggressor pilot's mother, and nothing would get an NPC to aggro because I wasn't able to shoot. Vrepair wouldn't correct the matter either.
No choice but to eject.
