It sounds like:
a. A good way to get yourself bugged.
b. Useless manouver since when you land you won't be able to launch again.
c. Which 5 minute timer before your skills drop?

The messege comes up that says, "Your resignation from the smugglers alliance will be completed in 5 minutes"
The same thing happens when you go overt, it's like a 30 second timer.

I'm not a big fan of the ship cert system to begin with, but I think considering they designed to work a certain way it will. It might work until you land the first time (and yes you have to land, if not to reload CMs then when the server resets and boots you) but after that, I'd have to agree that it sounds like a good way to get bugged.

I don't remember a timer for dropping pilot skills, just for resigning GCW faction. Then again, that would work the same, since pilot skills go with it if factional.

Theres only a timer if your dropping a faction via your recruiter as your factional piloting skills go bye by with the resignation.
Chances are when you land, you simply wont be able to use the ship anymore.
-------
On a side note, if you want to keep your ship certs, just pay for a character transfer. (/w items , never tried it without) Sony hasnt fixed it yet. Ive transfered once as imp (and its stuck to me now), and another time as a privateer (which is now stacked on top of my imp).
Let me tell you, it was intresting when i went rebel pilot for awhile, i had all three piloting professions at the same damn time!. Infact, i did Novice to teir 3 rebel pilot, in a tie advanced! Way to go sony!
Note: only the most current profession is visible, the other two, while you cant see them are there, under the surface so to speak.

How would he know? Be a cold day in hell before ie dropped rebel pilot.
If he isn't, i wonder what i did differently then he did. Obviously we both transfered with items, but the question i have is did he bring a looted credit chip with him? I did, both times, and i find it suspicious how sony has changed character transfer to include credits all of a sudden. It could be their way to "fix" the problem, and would be their typical to their lazy attitude towards fixing things.

Well, I know he's leveling up CL-wise, whereas you're stuck where you're at there, as I recall. Not sure, but he told me he's not bugged like you.

What if you drop freelance (or any prof)pilot and run to the STARPORT and launch into space with a ship within 5 minutes.
(Under the 5 minutes it takes for your pilot skills to actuallydrop)
So you would actually be IN SPACE when your skills drop. Does your ship dissappear?
The same could be said for Reb or Imp pilots. What happens? Has anyone tried it?

i noticed that on TC when they had the blue frogs. I could take all the piloting proffesions, and use there specials in space when i took them from the blue frogs. i never buged it cause i thought the only way to get it was through the skill builders.
