Thread: So wait... let me get this straight...

OK, I got Ace yesterday in the Imperial Inquisition. I was very happy. I had a good time with the vette mission (dualed it with another person who was also on her ace mission). I got the sweet-looking Ace helmet. I was very, veryhappy. I went and promptly entered Deep Space. I gazed in awe at the Star Destroyer before deciding to go try taking down the station. On the way there the combat music starts up (oh yeah, I didn't have target nearest enemy player hotkeyed, so I was just going on blind hope that DS would be empty). I hit r, my hotkey for target closest enemy and see a player X-wing bearing down on me. I veer out of the way, and we start a frantic air duel, my first since way back in the days of X-Wing vs TIE Fighter. My Eta-2 didn't take a hit this time and after 5 minutes of veering around each other, I was finally able to disable him and then bring him down. I had the PvP shakes real bad at that point, but the pilot I just killed started up a conversation with me, congratulating me on my kill. I thanked him for a good duel, and headed towards the station. My first PvP in space and I win. I was very, very, very happy.

I get pinned down by some NPCs, but nothing I can't deal with. After sending about 10 starfighters on their merry way, I look over towards the station and see an X-wing hovering omminously over it. Yes, my dueling partner had returned. So we zipped towards each other, banking and weaving and both opened fire as soon as we were in range. Clearly, however, we had both invested more into our guns than into our shields. Before either of us could blink, our shields were gone, armour shredded and components in shambles. He got my reactor. I got his engine. As such, our craft drifted harmlessly past each other to come to a standstill almost perfectly back to back. This was funny in itself, had I not continued to drift for another few meters. Just in range of the station's guns. So I got rather violently ejected from Deep Space, but on the plus side it was a draw as my opponent had to eject too.

At any rate, it was late but I'd had a blast on my first day of Ace. I called it a night, vowing to return to claim the station the next day. That was today. I carefully hit a (my newly-hotkeyed target closest player) and found DS suitably empty. Hah! Time to Pwn the station!! ....or so I thought. After spending half an hour making attack runs at this thing, without dealing so much as a scratch to it, I finally park my ship right just out of range of the guns (if a player had come along I would've been screwed, but I didn't care. I just wanted to blow up the damn thing) and hit the forums. After a bit of searching I come across some strange articles.

So let me get this straight... the Rebel station is currently invincible? No way to destroy it? No workarounds? If so, I'm extremely dissapointed, as that's been one of my goals since I first heard about DS. While we're on the subject, how did one destroy it beforehand? Were there targettable shield generators like the corvette or the ISD?

long story short, the shields dont show up when you cycle components anymore, cant hit the shields, reactor and bridge wont cycle till you take em out

as far as i remember, the bug showed up bout the time CU or ROTW went live(not sure which one caused it, someone else please correct me)

When the CU code hit live. And you should be able to target the shields, it's just that they're located beneath the physical exterior of the Freedom Station, so there's no way to actually damage them. Same thing was happening with Corvettes at the time, but as destroying them is necessary to master the pilot profession, their bug was fixed quickly.

I'm pretty sure the invincible Freedom Station is a known issue, but I don't have any idea as to when we might see a fix on it.

Dunno but they seem to have time to make a new expansion.. Wait that's another programmer team. I wonder what the live team has been doing all this time?

yeah no doubt.. what'd they say? 50% of the team working on live and fixing issues.. 50% working on new content, etc.. seems to me like it's 90% new content and 10% live issues..

maybe it's just me.. but I don't see the logic in this.

This sounds like an easy enough fix ... but so is the Endor Research Station landing point, it's just 100m to the west of where it should be. Land there sometime and note your height when you land, and your height when you can move, then run over to where you SHOULD have landed and check your height. So far as I know, they haven't even said this is an issue at all...
