PvP I've had limited success, I normally get asked why I won't just die or how I can withstand the beating I do.

PvE it cuts through everything very very quickly, and is my main workhorse ship.

I hope to find out soon. Will be purchasing one today, hopefully. I'm sure it's got something it excels at, although I don't think it'll do anything exceptional in PVP. As it is, the JSF is the be all and end all.

I LOVE my Firespray. With the right loadout, you can compete. Just get to know your ship. If you really want to be good with it, you can be.

there really isn't anything the firespray can do better than any other ship

it has the mass to be a bomber, not sure where it stands in comparison to other ships in terms of manuverability

I love my KSE. I've got the "Masuimi" decked out with twin Mk IV protons, reward 2555 f/b shields, a high YPR engine, and a host of other surprises. I'll be upgrading her guns even further once I find another lvl 8 gun with refire under .415 and/or a lvl 10 with mass under 47k. With the right loadout in PVE she's just a hammer.

The one thing I cannot stress enough though is the engine. You have plenty of mass with this ship and the biggest favor you can do yourself is equip an engine with the best possible YPR to compensate for the chassis' sluggishness.

I've tinkered with my Firespray a bit, and I wouldn't fly it unless you have a good RE'd master level engine, with as high PYR as possible. Even then it'sa little sluggish but with some practice you can be a monster in PvE, and if you really know what you're doing I'm sure you can compete with most in PvP..... but I have yet to PvP with it so that's just guessing.

I just started outfitting mine last night. I've only flown it once before and that really was only to see it in space. I don't have much experience with big ships in general either. I'm going to try using a Mark V and hope it works. It has 120.0 spd but the pyr is only in the low to mid 60s. Mark V engine is like 38K? or something close so that is lighter than a lvl 10RE job. I will prolly try playing around with an RE engine to see just how much the high pyr helps me corner. My assumption though was that I'd get more use from high speed than high pyr. Even with a lvl 10 RE, I don't think I could go toe to toe with an interceptor class ship.

I called mine the flying brick.

But then again I'm really picky. No mater what, I couldn't get around the oversteer.

That's also why I haven't tried a POB ship yet.

If you're going with crafted, I recommend having all the experimentation dumped into YPR, or at least YP. The higher the YPR, the easier it will be to handle and correct for any overstear and drift during manuvers. Take a nice long look at RE 10s too, as they can get below 42K mass with work and even a poor one will have 80+ YPR. Another advantage of a RE is the low drain, being able to run EO4 easily with a low mass reactor kicks the YPR up that much higher over a crafted.
