To cut to the point, where is a good place in space to grind credits? I haven't found a post on the subject.

tier 4 duty missions, creds of kills, lots of loot to re or sell and creds for the mission waves can easily make 4 mil on a weekend.

2 problems. First, I'm a master pilot, so I don't get duty missions anymore, except from space stations (which don't seem to give out Tier 4). Second, I have been told of static places in space that yield 1mil an hour. I am trying to find one of those.

Go back to your Tier 4 trainer (or another in the same faction but different squadron) and take a mission, you can do it.
