Thread: Repairing chassis of loot ships?

It seems sort of unfair not being able to repair the loot ships chassis. Like once they degrade from deaths in space, we are just screwed?

Has there been any discussion regarding this?

Particularly unfair since I suffered from the "looping death" bug in my ARC the other night.

Your chassis will never get to the point where it can't be used; I believe the lowest it will go is 50 HP.

One of the reasons for the fall of the Roman Empire was, lacking the number 0, they had no way to indicate successful return from their C programs.

Hmm. So isn't there any drawback to piloting a ship with only 50 chassis condition?

Is that like the actual hitpoints left once your armor has been penetrated? Never really understood the chassis number representation.

It's my understanding that the only thing chassis HP applies to is how many hits you take after your shields and the armor/shields of your components are gone.

Basically there shouldn't be anything you'd ever notice once your chassis degrades, but I could be wrong.

If a poisonous snake is dropped on top of you from a gyrocopter, don’t freak out and shoot your own driver with your arrow gun, making the vehicle lose control and blow up. Its probably just as scared as you are.

A low hp chassis will have a few side effects.

Once your defenses are doing/gone, a chassis hit will probably mean realy instant kaboom.

A lot more residual damage can make it to your components, thus increasing the decay there.

High hp may not mean a lot in PvP, but in PvE in an escape situation, when the mobs shoot less often, those few seconds can make the difference between escape and death.

Also note that once you've completed the quest, nothing is stopping you from buying a replacement chassis from a pilot who's done the quest but doesn't like/use their ship.

LOL

I went to DS and figured to get to Eject 5 times for 1k BF for a m8 grinding Dancer (healing xp is like, IMPOSSIBLE, since there's no Mind Wounds to heal, AND groups are down to 8...)
Hit eject and died 11 times.... did a 25% repair to get me into motion and back to DS for repairs... goal acheived but... WHAT A PRICE!.. all that rare equipment... ganked.... and the chassis... wasn't too impressed.
