And why?

I'm starting the Imperial pilot stuff, as Imp Inq, and want to know what ships I should use? Currently, I am 1/1/1/1 and use a Light Duty Fighter.

I'd like to know about ships to use as I both progress and once I finally get Master.

Cheers,

Grab yourself a Heavy TIE. I'm still using mine at 3-3-3-3. I'll likely switch over to the Royal Guard Interceptor at 4-3-3-3, but that's an aesthetics choice, not a practical one. Really, you could probably go all the way to Master in a Tier 1 Heavy TIE.

All Imperial ships are worthless now, just like all faction ships from JTL.

All you need is a starter heavy until you hit Tier4 then you can fly a JSF, or greivous (just the same, except a little bigger)! Welcome to the wonderful world of composite armour in space!

TIE Bombers.

They're easy to shoot down.

And to the previous poster: Ain't that the terrible truth

The heavy Tie is quite a ship - I'm in possession of all the Imperial ships JSF, VT, Agress, Advanced, you name it.. but when you can fit a 2.5k front back shield with 15 recharge, and a 4.4k damage gun on a fighter ship with the pre-nerf 95.6 RE'd speed engine, your looking at one finely tuned piece of Imperial hardware. Again.. I'm a strong believe in your only as good as your parts and your skills. You can have the nicest top-end ship and if you can't navigate, gun, or use droid commands properly your about as useful as a two story outhouse.

Heavystarter and then JSF/Greivous, or as I like to call them, Space Composite and Space PvP Composite!

It's a little different with Imperial ships but the heavy TIE is nice for a while.

I switched my privateer ace and went up to rebel ace just so I could fly a B-wing, and I dumped the heavy Z-95 as soon as I hit T3222.

I'd say don't waste your credits on a TIE bomber unless you realy want one. Imagine trying to dog-fight in a death-star.

It's been said if the TIE bomber got a mass increase it would have it's own moon, and that opinion is not derived from the numbers but from it's handling. It can be used effectively, but only with very high performance components, and/or several fighter escorts.

The interceptor is nice, but don't let the quad shots fool ya, it still only mounts one gun.

THe agressor is nice for the mass but kinda slow turning as a fighter.

The opressor is the king @#$% of TIE's. 2 guns, 3 missles, 170k mass and it turns like an X-wing.

Personally I use either my opressor or my firespray. even with no launchers loaded you can stuff some big guns in an opressor and a hot-rod engine.

The JSF is a nice toy, but personally I only use it as a toy. Once your master it's so nice to actually have some mass to play with it makes it very difficult to squeeze yourself back into a 90k restriction.

My opinion, get a heavy TIE and use that for your lower lv's, get an interceptor because they're cool. Get an agressor for some mass and firepower, get a JSF to play with, and finally get master and pwn in your opressor.

Honestly as advice I would say fly them all. Choose what you like based on what you want to do while flying. Just because a ship has better stats, doesn't mean its the one you will fly best in.

Personally I prefer the Royal Guard TI to the jedi starfighter or Heavy Tie for the end game ship. I actually only use my JSF to mine with. (the incesent chirping of the droid annoys me) And I haven't figured out why, but I just perform better in the Royal guard. I get hit way less often in it than when I use the exact same parts in any of the other ships.

Get at least 5.1 sound and if youve ever seen any SW film in the cinema - particularly the originals, looking over your shoulder when your R2 shrieks and you are on the comp, makes the game for you!

Im so sad I have macros that go -

for emerg shields

"Artoo - boost shield power" *static* *beeboop* "Im out of the fight - for now!"

or

"Im badly damaged - Artoo see what you can do back there or youll be walking home!" *static* *beebeebop!"

when i use my pilot skills and they go out to my team mates!

Yes im a sad geek, but I love it!

I have to second (or is it third) the Heavy TIE, I've been an Ace for a long time, and just built one of these last night, I think it is my favorite ship! You can fly it all the way to Ace no problem, it turns better than any other Imp fighter, and is only a hair slower than the Interceptor, but with the engine you can drop into it due to the extra mass it will be way faster =)

I loaded mine out withMark V engine (114 speed, no good resources on hand), Mark IV shield, Experimental Blaster, and Mark II reactor and capacitor. With EO 3 I was zoomin along at 1400 =) The thing turns in its own length, and has enough mass to be competetive all the way up to master!
