Thread: Need Help mining with Y-8
You can successfully mine solo in the Y-8 currently. Put a layer crafted mining laser in (I use a mk3 mining laser).
I have found that if you turn off "auto-center camera" , zoom out a bit to third person, and position the camera slightly above and behind your ship it is "possible"
I also use a few handy macro's.
- Go to asteroid you want to mine.
- shoot it 3-4 times to get a rock busted off.
- hit this macro... /ui action targetSelf; /ui action cycleTargetOutward; (that will target the closest target to you (the big rock) then hit /follow
- shoot it about 3-4 times to blow it and get the little rocks to blast off.
- hit that macro again along with /follow,now blast the little rocks
Of course, this method would be enhanced by having a partner in the upper turret using a tractor beam. But this method does make time go by a little quicker. Works even better with fighter-class mining vessels. Only difference is you turn on your tractor beam, blast big rock, and instead of blasting little rocks you use tractor on them (you leave the tractor turned on the whole time)
/slaute
Tractor beams in turrets only work if someone is sitting in the pilot seat, otherwise to my knowledge it works fine.
I think the /move up command is still busted though...

Oaky, wait.
Did they fix this thing so it would actually mine now?
In my experience it will only "Mine" if the mining laser is placed in the main hard mount (pilot controlled) slot.
If you put a mining laser in one of the turrets it won't mine, you'll just sit there blasting away all day with no results.
