I am a Rebel Pillot. I was thinking of getting Shunt Cap from another pilot.
Which Shunt Cap should I use? And should it be runnning all the time?

If you don't have it, you want Cap overload 3 first (not 4, because of the damage it does to the part). I recomend 3, as that still leaves you with a bit of juice in the cap to keep fireing.
They don't run all the time. It's an instant thing, it just dumps cap energy to your shields. Something you run as required.

U use Cap overload 3 and shunt 3. Works just fine, and with a nice cpa regen you have no worries about losing any energy from your cap. Also advisable to use weapon overload 3 as this reduces energy required by weapons, but don't tell everyone

It depends. If you feel that you're good at managing your energy, then use Shunt 4; it will shunt all the energy from your capacitor into your shields, which can be great if you've got big shields to refill. I've been using Shunt 3, personally, because I like to have the little bit of capacitor energy left so I can keep firing, and my shields are small enough that Shunt 3 is all I really need to use.

Incorrect. Shunt programs do not damage parts.
If you have pretty low charge/shot weapons, and a cap with a lot of energy and high recharge, CtSS4 is perfectly acceptable. It's just a 100% cap dump and sometimes means a second or two of no firing.

he ment cap overload 4, not cat to sheild 4. cap overload 4 does damage the capacitor

damage from level 4 overloads can be avoided in 2 ways. (I know some people might consider this cheesy, but I dont)
1) go to deepspace... your parts will be repaired without decay when you hyper out.
2) repair them partially first... 25%, 25%, 50%, 100%. (annoying but works)
I use both level 3 and 4 captoshield shunts in the v6 flightcomputer i use whenever I am master and not grinding yet another pilot squadron
level 4:
pros: best effect.
cons: unsuited to use in macros and when you are firing at something because it drains all the capacitor energy
level 3:
pros: leaves 25% power in the capacitor which lets you keep firing uninterrupted.
takes up slightly less program space in your computer than level 4.
cons: it does not restore as much shield points as level 4.
