Might also want to post something on the Intrepid forum. There've been some efforts at revitalizing PvP (sans "Jedi") that have gone over well - so something like this might go over well. I love flying, so I'd love to see some larger scale PvP in space.
I fielded the idea of a "Newbie Master Pilot PvP/Deep Space School" to one of the more "prominent Imperial Space PvPers" to see what he thought and basically got ignored, so if your guild is very space/pilot oriented maybe you guys could take the ball and run with it.
The idea (I've read about things like this happening on other servers) being to have folks from all factions come to Deep Space either 1) In the ship of their choice, or 2) In a heavy-mass variant TIE, Scyk or Z95 equipped with LEVEL 1 guns (and/or missiles) only. That way everyone would be on a somewhat level playing field. The more experienced PvP pilots could give the newer pilots tips and such and folks could have at it and hopefully have a lot of fun.
As for me, I'm an Alliance Ace Pilot (Crimson Phoenix and Havok so far) and have also mastered Smuggler's Alliance. I'm not guilded, I love my Advanced X-Wing and taking long walks on the beach... erm.. never mind that bit.
Anyway, I'd love to find a way to get more people interested in PvPing in space on the server. Maybe I could actually find someone I can shoot down.

Haldan, in terms of posting on the Intrepid forum, I'll put one in there, but only a reference to this post as i'll want to keep the registry mildly clean.
In terms of schooling, our guild only tends to school our own.
And as for the idea of standard weapons, sounds good... but i think variety would be good here.. have anything goes and then standardised weapons.
