I've seen multiple posts on this one, so can someone clear it up for me.

Can you use one without having done the quest, or must you have doen the quest to use it, even though you get the cert for it in 4/x/x/x

You can use this without the quest as long as you are 4333 or better pilot.

Nope, you need the badge to be able to make it from deed to ship.

OK, if someone already has it out of deed, can they drag and drop it in a trade screen window from their data window like you can a swoop?

You do *not* need the quest to use the Advanced X-wing. Trust me on this--I gave an Advanced X-wing to a guildmate who hadn't done the quest yet, and he had no problem using it.

I bought my advanced X and used it without ever doing the quest so let me reiterate. YOU DO NOT NEED TO DO THE QUEST!

The only ship I have heard of, where the quest completion is required, is the JSF. Please correct me if I am wrong.

You should not need the X-Wing badge specifically, however you might need a minimum of five badges to unpack it.
