Do you use droid overloads? In a Heavy X-Wing you should be able to waist that Deci infew seconds. Don't hang back, run in all guns blazing. If you are running Reactor, Cap, weapon overloads you should walk it, then you can concentrate on the fighters after it. If you don't all you need is one guy to help, he concentrates on the Deci, you tackle the fighters. It's the mission after this that can get tough if you don't run programs. The waves can get on top of you when you defend the hyping ship for 9 mins or so.

ive done this mission a few times for guildies, what i do is charge in guns blazing in my heavy x, the deci stands no chance against my onslaught, and my heavy x kinda sucks with components too......so just charge that sucker

One of the standard tactics against turret ships is to strafe them. CtSS lets you recover your shields while they're still damaged, and being out of range gives you the time for it. A Decimator shouldn't take more than 2-3 attack runs. It's the Gunboats that are really rough...

Oh, and you're ONLY using WCO? Add in WO and EO, plus RO as needed.

LOL, I feel for you, this was my first exit mission andI literally decayed 5 X-wings and all the components inside them to dust and was stuck on that mission for 2 months before I learned about droid commands and loadouts. (Even worse, didn't actually learn about the shield and armor "health" bars until my third ace )

Tips:

Cap to shield shunt 4- smuggler program

Reactor Overload 3- smuggler program, almost required so you can charge the rest of these

Engine Overload 3- Imp program, nice for strafe and run- gives added speed bonus

Cap overload 3- smuggler program, think you said you had it

Weapon Overload 3 or 4- Imperial (3 is bugged, but in a good way- hate to actually tell people to use it though) improves your weapon damage

You should have all these programs loaded into your droid (I can't find the droid program walkthrough so I'm just giving generic examples) and have all the overloads running when you get to dath space- just a FYI, you can use any faction program in any ship, you just need to either look for droid programming chips on the bazaar/ vendor search with those programs, or find blank ones and nice pilots to program them.

With these programs, I used this approximate loadout:

2 L7 blaster (2800+ damage at least), if you can fit 3 go for it, L7 shield, L7 engine, L5 armor (both), then skimped a bit on the rest for mass- Mk3 reactor & cap, Mk2 DI and boosters. (though the fastest Droid interface you can find that'll fit in your ship is the best bet)

If I'm remembering my ships right, the Deci only has 4 guns- guns 0-3. Best to either take out gun 2 (top-mount and hits the hardest it seems- once it's gone it won't do nearly as much head-on damage when you're on your approach IMO, just remember to be evasive on your way out of range) or the engine first through strafing runs- go in full throttle, hit and run, shield shunt if you need to regen your shields, then I recommend trying to delay hitting it again till you can CtSS again. As soon as the engine is gone, pull the fighters out of the Deci's range and finish them off and by then usually it's blown and you're on to the second part of the mission

I'm sure if I've given any bad/ incorrect advice it will be corrected by some of the more advanced pilots out there pretty quickly- like I said this was my first squad, and I'm still learning but getting better. So I hope this helps
