I know the mission is bugged and I really dont want the ship that bad, I just want to be able to mine. The dude gives you a mining laser and a cargo hold but what about the tractor beam? I need to mine sili asteriod but when I shoot at it I cant bring em in.

Thanks

when i did this mission i was having an issue with it also.....the first asteriod i went to was bugged no medium sized chunks broke off to target.

What im getting at is to mine you dont need a tractor beam once the meduim size chunk breaks off you shoot that until it breaks into mulitpule small chunks. You then shoot those and get the minerals. if you had the tractor beam they would brign the chunks into your hold without shooting them.

Id try a diff asteriod first and watch for a chunk to break off.

hope that helps

I've done quite a bit of mining and the problem is that the asteroid is mined out but doesn't reset straight away.

if your shooting an asteroid and nothing comes off keep going, it'll eventually disappear completely and be replaced with a new asteroid that'll mine fine.

Also with publish 24 sorting out (hopefully) the YT-8 (for those who completed it) and mining in general I suspect that there will soon appear Mark III mining lasers and cargo holds galore and they are alot better then the rewards ones. I should know, am Shipwright and made my own

Hope that helps

If you have a Mark I laser it will take a while.

Also be warned that if an asteroid is right near the 'edge of space' so to speak sometimes small chunks fly off and no matter how many times you shoot them they dont go into your cargo hold.

My advice is to avoid the frustration and choose another asteroid, i spent 10 mins and every 2nd or 3rd one wouldn't mine and it was a tad annoying !!

Good luck

Next time /examine the asteroid. You'll see a condition shown. When you shoot it, the condition will drop. When it hits 0, the asteroid will go poof and a new one will spawn. The new one will spawn chunks for you.

This can take a long time even with a Mark III mining laser, so be patient.
