Does anyone know if there is an efficient way to communicate with your wingman while in space combat? Also i'm a noob to JTL and are the bots you can hire to fly as your wingman similar to creatures, droids, etc...like that exist planetside?

What would you consider efficient? Some people use Teamspeak or Ventrillo, which works pretty well. I've got a couple macros set up to say certain things that come up a lot while PVPing. Other than that, it can be pretty hard to say much of anything when you're in a serious dogfight.

As for wingmen pets, they don't currently exist.

Indeed TS is the way to go. However if you just want some quick communicating buttons, try making some chatter macros. With 24 hotkey spaces to work with and very few actually going to commands and items compared to the ground game, theres enough room for a few good ones.

A few I have set up just in case:

/g Negative.;

/g I'm on it.;

/g Watch your back.;

/g Rebel player spotted.; (for deep space)

They arent used as often as Id like, but they come in handy when in a tight spot and you dont have 4 hands to type and play with.

I think the bots you are referring to are special pilot commands you get as freelacer or Imperial Navy pilot. Those are just commands that call backup ships to attack whatever you have targeted, or in the freelancer case you send out a "distress call" that will summon pirate ships into the area. This is supposed to distract the enemy.The Imperial command is much much more effective than the freelancer command. You do not have control over them.

teamspeak/ventrillo is almost necessary for doing anything group related thats heavy on the action side.

I dont use it myself, as my wife would throw things at me and call me a dork

However it is just too taxing to type messages in the middle of any real action, headsetting is just the way to go if you want to coordinate. Unless you have a commanding officer that isnt in the battle issueing orders (I wish that worked)

I use Ventrilo and I highly recommend it. I can run client side software on this PC which Uber by any means and I get not noticable lag from it. With a handset it is reliable and handsfree. Just a great way to communicate in space or on planet

Teamspeak all the way, does not hinder the performance of my PC at all and I would say mine is average...I have slightly better than the *recomended* (not required) hardware to play the game

Dhuell wrotebviously you don't pay attention...It was a question not a statement. However the idea of be able to hire a bot/pet to fly as wingman would be a nice addition to JTL, but that is just wishful thinking.

Actually I was paying attention.

You asked "are the bots" not "are there bots" which would indicate that some one hadled you to believe they existed. I was simply trying to find out if this was the case.

Well, if you are Imp, there is Bstrike, pretty much the closest thing.
