I had a pretty easy time in Smuggler's Alliance, until I reached the end of Tier-3. At that point the missions got sharply more challenging. I'd have had an easier time if I were actually using my droid and running overloads, and cap-shunt-to-shield, etc, but I was still flying in the mindset of the earlier tiers. I also made it harder on myself by avoiding the hutt chassis (which are actually very servicable). But generally the only parts you'll probably need help with, if you fly well, are the first few tier-4 missions. But again, that depends on your ship, loadout, and use of your droid/computer, and how well you take to flying in general.

I haven't tried the other privateer paths.

Most seem to say that going from easiest to hardest it's CorSec, RSF, and then Smuggler's Alliance. But it's really a matter of personal opinion. The important thing to remember is how the Free Lance squadrons are setup factionally.

RSF: Imperial Aligned - Some missions are to destory rebel ships - must take out Rebel Corvette to make Ace.

Smuggler's Alliance: Mostly Rebel Aligned - Some missions are to destroy rebel ships, some missions are to destory imperial ships, must take out the Imperial Corvette to make Ace. Correct me if I'm wrong on this one, please. It might have changed.

CorSec: Completely Neutral. Some missions are to destroy rebel ships, some missions are to destory imperial ships, can pick which Corvette to you destory to make Ace.

Actually, having assisted in all of them, they all seem to be similar enough to notmatter much. I chose CorSec just because itis notstrongly Imp (RSF) or Reb (SA).

Which Privateer squadron would be the easiest to start in for a new char? Or does it really matter?

Cydarien Outlander Imperial ACE Pilot. Shipwright. Everything else is filler.
Praetor Darkmind Rebel Ace Pilot. Master BH Nothing to hunt..
