Thread: Is there a way you can program a one touch screenshot button

I am doing more PVP in deep space. I was wondering instead of going trough the dance of hitting a set of keys, can it be programmed that you can make a macro that will take a clean (no HUD) screenshot...with of course the touch of a joystick button. I know how to bind joystick buttons so I'm good there just looking for a macro or something.

thanks in advance

Hmm... somehow you'd have to not only have the macro hit CTRL, Shift, H for you, but also Print Screen. I don't think I've heard of macros being able to "type" certain keys for you. But maybe...

My recomendation is to map a "Ctrl+Shift+H" button to your stick, and then just press it, and print screen, and then it again. I do that, and map print screen to one ofmy throttle buttons. it is still a two button operation, but it works well.

Or, if you have a programmable joystick (CH Products and Saitek both make products like this) you can program an external macro that will do CTRL+SHIFT+H and then PRINTSCREEN.

I remaped the HUD toggle to Insert key, so two key hits isn't too bad. Some repetitive things I just make a macro for with my n52 key pad. Just remember what ever steps you macro into, you have to have the macro step back out to normal.

I have a Logictech, any hints on making the external macro. Is it something I have to look for in the software of the joystick or elsewhere?

Thanks for the hints guys, it's not a big issue but I have empty buttons I'm not using on my stick so I figured "Hey why not"!

External Macro would have to be done in your Logitech software. I run Saitek so i am not sure what the logitech programs are called, but it should look like a joystick diagram or something, and from there you can map macros and such.

Just look on the CD your joystick came with, or head to Logitechs site for more info
