Thread: Any way to train when given a story type mission?

I am an RSF pilot and I have completed Tier 2, moving up to Tier 3. My current skill is 3222. I have been given the mission where you have to escort a YT1300, then jump to Corellian space and fight against a group of pirates who have a YT1300.

I have tried this mission many times and I guess I just suck, but I always get the crap kicked out of me when I confront the pirates and the YT1300 in the Corellain system. First, my "Back up" doesn't seem to react at all. Secondly the YT1300 strips my shields away so quickly I am a sitting duck.

I have 350,000 pilot experience and I need 200,000 to train my next skill (components is what I have planned as I think it will help with the mission) but the trainer who hands out the quest won't train me and none of the other trainers will help me out. Is there another trainer that is not on Naboo that can train me? Because if not I am at an impasse and it just seems silly.

Looks like your stuck....to my knowledge only the trainer your with can actually train you and he wont give you that training until your current mission and xp tally are met....I would suggest finding a few people who will be willing to help you get through the mission

Tier three missions have nothing to do with XP and everything to do with the mission. One mission equals three boxies.

Tier four goes back to a grind. Love the mission based experience while it lasts.

Some stuff to keep in mind. You can almost always hyper within the same system to ditch pursuit.

Since XP grinding does you no good at tier three... disable ships instead of trying to kill them, its much faster.

If you're having a tough time don't be afraid to bug out with a boost or even a hyper within system.

Droid commands are your friend. Cap to Shield 4, Engine, Weapon, Capacitor, Reactor overload 3 are key. Do the last three as soon as you get into space then repair right away. Then do cap to shield 4 as needed/as allowed by your Droid Interface speed.

Finally juke and dodge and spin. But particularly spin if you have a lighter craft and are going up against a big ship like a YT. Target the weapons systems. Once one weapon is taken out the thing is a lot less of a threat.

All that advice is good. But a lot of folks just want to do the mission. If thats the case group up with a pilot close to your level or above. One extra person isn't just an added bit of firepower, its another thing for baddies to shoot at. The combination makes just one person a significant improvement.

Whichever works best for you to have fun.

More like 1 mission equals 1 box. There are 4missions per tier, just like the others.

He's not being pursued, he's being vaporized.

Yes, but if you do your Tier3 missions and kill everything in them, you often have almost exactly enough for your first tier4 box, with less time lost to grinding.

If you repair, you wipe out the effect of your overload. If that's not the way it's working, then it's a bug and should be reported not promoted. The droid program system is borfed enough without exploiting it.

It's a pain, but you made a couple critical errors. already, and it's going to be hard to solo your way out. When you advance, its pretty important to pick the Components box first, at least for tiers 1-3. No worries, lots of people fall for the "shiny new ship" ploy, but without gear, the largest hull in the galaxy won't get you past a mission. As was said, there is no xps requirement for tier3, and you can't jump squad without dropping everything and beginning again. Your best hope for getting enough of a boost to get past this solo is by droid commands. If you really want to try and get it done solo, read the next paragraph, otherwise hop to the end.

While the above advice was well intentioned, he forgot several key points that make what he told you to do useless. You can get a Flight computer, and evensome Imperial Programs on chips, but you're not certed to run a computer large enough to hold the programs listed above. We haven't talked about your ship much, so I dont know what you have for gear, but I'll make a couple assumptions. If your reactor is more power than you use by a fair margin, you won't need Reactor Overload. A Lv3 flight computer should be able to hold Weapon Overload3, Engine Overload3,Cap Overcharge2, and Cap to Shield Shunt 2. Remember, this is essentially going to be come a throwaway comp to get you past the next few missions, Since most people get a Lv4 Flight comp and put in "the 5 3's" EO3,RO3,WO3,CO3, and CtSS3.

Missions are designed to get harder for each tier, but thegear you get is designed to handle it in most cases, thats why a L7 Player crafted weapon and shield would have gone a Long way to getting you past this mission. You weren't to know that, and it's not a huge mistake, so don't feel bad. My last advice, is instead of jumping through a lot of hoops that will cost you extra creds and may not work well enough (this is a tough mission and I don't think droid progs will help enough) find a person or two to lend a hand on this one.The YT's are bears and the NPC AI is broken. They will never lend a hand, and you're on your own unless you bring a handor two. Good luck, and if we'reon the same server, contact me and ill gladly help.

PS-re: your sig. I agree newb clothes stink, but Desert crawlerscolor coordinated in a nice outfit canlook nice

Yes indeed one mission one box. No clue how I put 'three' in there.

Are we sure that repairs are supposed to clear droid commands? I've never found that to be the case unless I've just been shot down and burned components completely. If its a bug its the most reliable bug I've ever heard of.
