Is it possible to modify this ship at all? I reached Tier 1 and now I'm having some trouble keeping up with the bad guys. I've got a Ywing longprobe I can use once I get my multi-role cert so until then I'm gona stick with the Z95.

Yes it is, but it's rather tight on mass, and the basic componets leave very little room for change ups (you need a better reactor to run most things.)

currently I'm thinking just an upgrade on the weapons, more damage and possibly faster firing rate would be good, everything else seems to be ok for now. It won't be too much longer until I'm moving on to a new ship.
Any suggestions on parts to do that would be nice.
Also, if anyone has any suggestions for souping up a Ywing longprobe, that would be cool too.

A player crafted Z95 has about 1k more space, but its still a tight fit most of the time. Here's some quick advice.
Dump the reactor for a nice L1 loot or player crafted L1. lighter with more power.
Get a crafted Lvl3 shield and gun, remove your armor, and put both in. Stick in whatever clunky armor you can fit after that, but the shield will do better at keeping you intact.
Replace your engine with a looted Level2 with better stats if you find one (not lvl3- odd lvl loots generally stink in most categories and engines is one category).
You actually should have room for a tiny Lvl1-2 booster.
You'll laugh, but I flew a z95 in PvP a few times, its great.

There is another, more costly option. Try getting all the overcharge lvl 1 working, this would make the Z a better craft.
This is an experiment I want to run on an alt, to see how far I can get up the tree with an overcharged Z.

I think tier2 would be the absolute limit of a pimped Z. Even with someone higher up to get feeder parts, it would be tough to get a weapon with sufficient power to make it. I don't think I was ever able to make an L5 gun that would fit, and there is for certain no way to get an L5 gun and shield in. unless you sacrifice things like.... the engine

I've always found the Z-95 sufficient to make it through the first Tier 3 mission. After my first Tier 3 mission, I switch to an X-wing, which, with level 5 gear, is sufficient to get the components box next.
Generally, my Z-95's loadout is something like:
a level 1 reactor
a level 2 engine
a level 4 cannon
a level 3 shield
a level 2 capacitor
a level 1 droid interface
a level 1 booster
It's tough to squeeze all that in, but if you can, it's enough to get you past your first Tier 3 mission, if you're good.
For kicks, every once in a while I pull out my old Z-95 and load it up and fly as someone's wingman on Tier 4 missions. First time I did that I was with a group of four or five other starfighters, and they all thought I was going to die in the first engagement. Not only did I make it through the first engagement, but I made it through the entire mission and got several kills (e.g. got the loot on several fighters). Of course, if it would've been my mission so all the fighters were targeting me, I would've been dead.
