Well, I finally mastered pilot, Crimson Phoenix Squadren. I have to say, it is nice to have finally done it.

However, the annoying part was the corvette. I didn't have the patience to get a squad together, so I kind of raided it alone in my x-wing, newly outfitted with a proton torpedo launcher just for this mission. Anyway, I tried following the guides- and it seems my skills aren't exactly up to spec to solo those thingsin a "skilled" manner. So, I adapted my own way: suicide runs. Lots of them. Unfortuantely, I wasn't able (or didn't dare try, I havn't had good luck with these) to kill the gunboats, so that meant that I only got about one missile off a round. Anyway, by the end, my armor was trash and I was wounded beyond belief, but I killed that thing. (I really should go back sometime and make sure those gunboats despawned...)

P.S. - thanks to all of you for posting about that ship's blind spot- it came in handy as a sniping poisition to take out the bridge.

Fewest number of people we have had for the Vette is 3. I can solo the ISD, but haven't even considered a solo attepmt at the Vette, as those Cannons are so damn accurate.

"I'll try spinning. That's a good trick."

It actually is against NPCs, especially the corvette. If you spin and slightly yaw your craft the whole time so you're not flying a particularly straight line, the corvette's guns have trouble hitting you. That's how I usually get in range to take out turret #5 underneath.

You might note that you do so in an A-wing Halyn.

X-wings get hit a bit more even when spinning.

Someone in a Rix or Kimo or Y-wing... the spinning helps very slightly.

The key here isn't to not spin btw... its to get yourself into a more agile shippie with a low profile for taking out the 'vette. Seems nonsensical but it certainly works.

A-wing, Duney, Kiry (if you have someREALLY impressive RE'd low level parts, say if you used to be a Imperial pilot), Interceptors have a nice low profile but I haven't flown one long enough yet to be certain.

Currently the ISD is much easier than the 'vette for most people so don't assume that you'll be able to easily help a friend get ace just cause you can take out the ISD in a couple minutes.

Indeed. My motto is "spin at gun #5" Everything else is just procedure.

Er, no. I always use an X-wing when going after the vette, and seldom take a hit if I'm spinning until I straighten out to target gun #5. I seldom fly an A-wing.

Hmm... I'll have to try those tricks out. Something tells me that anyone I tried to help wouldn't like me using my old "tactics." (That, and my x-wing can't take much more of that, so anything I could do to AVOID those cannons would help a lot.)

I actually had a rebel give me 1 mil to log on his account and go up in his rix (yeah, he was privateer rebel, but still, didn't use any specials) and down the corvette. He started getting in touch with everyone that he knew to get them to tag along, even though I insisted we didn't need anyone else. I slapped a couple of my components into the ship, including my engine, capacitor, and a mark 3 proton torpedo launcher. Now keep in mind I've downed vettes in my intercepter before, so this was easy pickins.

After I finally convinced him to head up on an imperial alt's account with only one other person that could attack the corvette, we headed to kessel. I lead them all the way across the sector and had them hang out there til the vette spawned. I gave them my wp and they headed to me as I went full speed with my re'd pre-nerf engine which seriously outran them. In the 5 minutes it took them to catch up, I had everything on this vette down minus the bridge. Just when I was about to get tone on the bridge, his buddy managed to squeeze off a missile and took out the last component.

The vette is incredibly easy to take out, I don't care what anyone says. If you really don't get the whole walkthrough and are on Corbantis, I'll take you up with me and you'll get to see first hand exactly how to take one down solo without iff scramble, in-flight repair, or bomber strike.

Actually the Corvette is so damn easy its almost pathetic

Follow these easy steps

1: Kill escorting fighters

2: Kill Corvette turret number 5, dont fly directly at it until youre in range (should be able to take it out without damaging shields, I use crafted lvl 5 shields 1300 power and a REd lvl 7 reward gun)

3: Kill gunships coming at a 45 degree angle behind and below (dont actually need to do this, but rest of it will be easier) take out engines first and then just kill it

4: Kill vette shields (come at a 45 degree angle from front and below unless you have missiles, in which case you can just launch them from below it)

5: kill engine, probably the easiest part

6: kill remaining turrets if flying guns only

7: Kill reactor

8: kill bridge

Note: Ive done this in every possible ship except starter ships or POBs (wíth guns only it takes no more than 5 mins, with missiles I can do it in 1-1.5 min (not killing fighters))

Yup, helped a guildie do the 'vette friday night, and it's a walk once you know what to do. Guns to take out Turret 5, 2 spacebombs for the shields, guns for the engine, bomb for the reactor, and guns on the bridge. Had a hard time getting my guildmates to understand which side was the bottom, but it went well enough.

We actually had a fun squad setup. 6 players in 4 ships, 2 Aces in Ywings with gunners (man gunboats are easy that way ) an Xwing, and a Dunelizard. The Ywings worked so well, I plan to repeat this setup next time we need to.

PS forgot to mention I go sent home once, during a rushed assault on turret5 with a momentarily LD gunner. My bad.
