Thread: Damage vs decay question
Lv3 overloads cause damage to a component.
LV4 overloads cause damage which leads to decay.
This is according to the droid programme guide.
My question is: when you request repairs from a station after running level 3 overloads, are you effectively decaying the component when you get it repaired?
Maybe an easier way to approach this might be to have a dummy definition of the difference between decay and damage.
I'm just concerned as I'm using some pretty nice RE components to help in my 9 Ace quest and I don't want them trashed by the time I get there and start looking into other stuff like PVP.
Cheers
Damage: Caused by overloading, enemy fire and certain pilot specials
Decay: Caused by repairing damage. Every 10 points repaired causes 1 point of decay. Level 3 overloads cause less then 10 points of damage, decay gets rounded down to 0 when repaired (assuming the component did not take more damage due to enemy fire).
Hypering in and out of deepspace repairs your ship without decay. If any component gets damaged during your 9-ace quest and you don't want it to decay, unequip it till you master again, then re-equip it for a trip to deep space.

Edit: Repairing can be done in stages of 25%/50%/75%/100%. Repairing 25% of 39 points of damage is less then 10, so no decay. Repairing another 25% of the leftover 30 damage is less then 10 points, so no decay. You get the picture.Message Edited by Washell on 09-28-2005 02:29 PM
