Thread: Seeking SS Tier 4 mission 4 advice

So far I have tried this mission twice and not succeeded.

The first time I got destroyed by the final spawn of gunboats and fighters.

The second time I defeated the 2 boss ships but got a you took too long message and failed again.

I was looking for helpful hints and suggestions. I have a Bel B22 with good equipment and running the level 3 overloads (Reactor, Engine, Cap and Weapons). I used strafing runs on the 2 command ships but then started on the fighter and got the mission too long message.

On the first try I tried to take on the escort first but then the command ships destroyed me. The second try I focused on the command ships.

My ship has a level5 rear armor, level 7 shield 1900 f/b, 2 level 7 weapons, chaff launcher and adecent capacitor with over 1000 energy, good engine and reactor. I considered dropping the armor and chaff launcher and add an Im-Rec missile launcher. Also I was wondering if I should go ahead and upgrade to the level 4 overloads.

I know of a guildie who would be able to help but I was so close I feel I can do this solo with a little better planning and possibly a better loadout on my ship.

Thanks for any suggestion you may be able to provide.

I soloed the mission in a Heavy Tie with a high speed engine. With a engine overload program you can joust the command ships. Boosting out of range and shunting energy to the shields. If you're going around 1000 you should be able to out fly all of the ships so you can take your time jousting them. A bomberstrike from the onset would be helpful too.

You might want to consider EO4 or WO4 depending on the weaker component you're using (or that your reactor w/o RO can actually handle).

A missle launcher isn't really necessary IMO. The chaff might be helpful only if PvE missles are taking your shields down. Usually I bump ships up that can shoot missles higher in my priority list.

B-Wing > Y-Wing > A-Wing > X-Wing > Z-95.

Thanks for the help so far. I did call in a bomberstrike also. I think I will talk with our shipwright in guild and see if any of the tons of loots I gave him so far RE'd good, if so that might give me a little more mass / speed / capabilties.

One problem I had on my first attempt was that I could not lure any of the targets away from the main group. If I could have taken out a couple fighters away from the main group this could have helped also.

If any one else has any ideas please let me know.

When I did it, the whole group chased me so pulling some away was pretty much not an option. I started with the gunboat and worked my way down the threat scale. remember that rebel gunboats have a huge blindspot underneath them. use the maneuverability of your ship to exploit that weekness during your head on passes to save some shunt/recharge time. The novas don't have a blindspot like that but tharen't near as accurate so once you get the gunboat out of the way you should be able to dodge enough to not have spend so much time shunting.
