In order for me to have an astromech droid in the ship, I don't have to have any droid engineering skills do i?

I dont even know if i can have any droid without certification..

I know i need the certification under the droid section of the pilot proffesion but in order to have one i dont know if it would just stay in the ship when i'm not in it like a ship component or would it be like a speeder or something.. that i could have it follow me around when on the surface...

might be a stupid question.. but before i go shell out the credits for a droid i want to make sure i can use it.

All you need is a droid with a data module, which most good DE's will list in the title of the droid. You need the droid level to be equal or less than that which you are certified for. The droid is, in this instance, a pet (as far as the game is concerned. You can actually have several if you wish (I do.).

Once you have a droid interface loaded into your ship, you can load the droid into the ship and it'll be available when you fly. It will also be in your datapad and can be used in combat or crafting depending on which service modules the DE installed in it during crafting.

Hope that helps,
