Thread: Alternative to Nerfing ROTW Ships
Here are my suggestions:
- Add the appropriate ammount of mass to tier 4 lvl pilot pvp ships so they can be up to par with the JSF and Belbullab.
- bring the X-Wing's Mass up to 150k but keep it's manueverability. (heavy X should be a heavy fighter for larger ships and small cruisers; X-wing should be a heavy dogfighter)
- ARC-170 is useless enough, either add more mass to it or make 2 lasers SP.
- The Vaksai is a decently manueverable fighter that is available to all faction pilots I believe. If not, make it available to Imperials as well.
- Rebel Droid Commands are useless. To compensate, make Rebel Pilot Command Recycile time 400% faster, which will make commands like Emergency Shields, more effective during battle.
Now, I'd like your suggestions, modifications to mine and constructive criticisms. Please be positive, we're here to progress.

One point at a time
- Each profession gets "decent" PVP ships at different levels. An across-the-board Tier 4 upgrade isn't going to help Privateers, for example.
- What's the point of having the Heavy X-Wing, then? It'll just be slower, with the same mass.
- Two SP lasers sounds good. I like the idea of a decent gunship, and the Krayt has *three* forward firing guns, plus the turret.
- Vaksai is the Privateer reward for the Crimson TI/Heavy X-Wing Kashyyk Station quest
- Maybe we should address the Rebel commands being crap Everyone gets a "buff" program, why not rebels? I love the idea of Shield Overcharge I-IV
I don't see why we should rebalance everything else (not that it doesn't need it ) just because a couple of new, overpowered ships were added to the game. Nerfing is a negative term anyway, why not call it balancing?
In the beginning, light fighters were fast and quick to turn, with low mass. Heavy fighters were bigger and slower, but with much more mass. We have a couple of medium fighters (Dunelizard, for example) that fit inbetween. That's the way it should be. Every ship should have drawbacks, things you have to take into consideration, things that you have to mitigate or change your tactics to overcome.
We should *not* have light fighters with more mass than the heavies. The reason we're seeing issues is not the manuverability of the new ships, its the mass. You can pack in a gigantic engine that makes the ship perform far outside the boundaries of anything else we can field.
Idislike the new Tier 0 Heavy variants for the same reason. Too much mass on such a small fighter. No way a Scyk can carry more than a Dunelizard, no matter whatmagic spacealloys you use.
Easiest fix is to drop the mass on the new light fighters down to something comparable with the *current* light fighters. They'll still have benefits (dual gun mounts and higher YPR), but you'll have to balance that with less mass spent on other things (armour, shields, reactor etc).
No fighter should be able to fill every roll, otherwise what's the point of flying anything else?
Honestly, if I were to guess at the direction that the devs are going with this...
We may be seeing a future where there are high mass/specialty variants of ALL ships out there.
We already have heavy variants of the tier 0 ships, there are heavy variants of the kimogila, kihraxz, interceptor, and x-wing available.
Not that I'd have any idea what could possibly be gained by introducing a heavy y-wing or heavy TIE Bomber, but... If I had my guess, I'd say that that's where the devs are headed on this.
If you are on a budget or can't mine/aquire the resources to build one.
I'm not saying that it is a great direction that this is headed in, but that seems to be the direction, all the same.
