Hi all. I have recently purchased a YT and would like to know what components are best for it?

All suggestions welcome

it's kinda low on mass, but you might be able to find a few things that fit in there, if you compromise a bit

As fast blasters as possible. High YPR engine. Pink furry dice.

Ibin, give me a shout in game. I will run through my Nova with you. It's good, but can be improved, but does the job as far as I'm concerned. In game name is in my Sig, but you have flown with me before.

The 'perfect' loadout is pretty straight-forward except for the engine, which is determined by how you intend to fly it. Remember that right now, POB ships like the YT have a mass of about 5M units, so weight isn't that big of a deal. Even with two POB guns that weigh 250k each, my loadout is barely over 750k, not even afifth of the available weight.

Here's the loadout for my YT-1300, the Galaxy Five Hundred:

Reactor: Mark VI fusion reactor gen rate of 16700. High generation rate is of utmost importance, low weight is seconary.

Engine: Kuat Systems Engineering Elite Engines. 2070 drain, 51k mass, 74.2p 75y 76.2r 81.8ts

Shields: Cygnus Holoscreen Shield Generator. 695hp 700ar 2433 shield hp front and rear, 2900dr 43k mass. 11.84regen. I picked these for their high shield HP, but the regen, mass, and drain are sub-standard.

Front and rear Armor: Mark V durasteel plating. Can't beat it on the open market for sheer HP value, although loot armor weighs a LOT less. Mine is rated at 2599 hp with 37k mass

Rear Armor: See above, 2508hp, 36k mass

Capacitor. Qualdex Conservator QX2. These particular caps are hard to beat. Mine specs as 1100drain, 13k mass, 1013 pool, and 44.3 regen. I have seen (and own) better, but with WO3 and CO4, this actually _charges_ even under full weapons fire.

Booster: Kuat Systems Engineering Elite ALS-1. 665 drain, 45k mass, 2196 energy, 51.2 recharge, 227 burn, 42.7 accel, 34.9ts. I picked this one strictly for the ts and acceleration. I was the best I had on hand at the time and I haven't gotten around to replacing it yet.

Droid Interface: Qualdex Droid Interface Mark IV. 495 drain, 14k mass, 13.9 speed. Spare no expense for speed. Again, the fastest I had on hand at the time, just haven't had a chance to replace it. Go for a speed of 10 or better (lower).

Weapon 1: Elite Gauss Cannon (POB only). These weapons ROCK. Even at 250k mass, poor ones routinely out-class even the Elite Annihilator cannon. Mine spec: 2800 drain, 2466-4233 damage, .750 vs shields, .240 vs armor, 29.8eps, .350 refire. for damage, eps, and refire the POB only guns are the best guns I've seen.

Weapon 2: 'Null Bolt' Blaster (POB Only). Did I mention that POB guns rock? 2867 drain, 2461-4235 damage, .530 vs both, 29.7eps, .35 refire.

I also have the Elite Railgun. It's the reverse of the Gauss Cannon so it's performace vs shields sucks. It's still a good weapon, but best as a secondary to either the Null Bolt Blaster or the Gauss Cannon. I havea second full set of all three POB only guns for sale, 1m each on Intrepid.

Ordinance is by your preference. I didn't use any until I hit pilot4444, so there are others more experienced than myself that can make better recommendations. Personally I use a spacebomb launcher and a MkIII Proton launcher right now.

Recommended flight computer programs are (and run in this order):

Reactor Overload 4

Engine Overload 4

Weapon Capacitor Overload 4

Weapon Overload 3 (4 will kill your cap)

Cap to Shield shunt 3 __AND__ 4 - use the one you need based on the situation.

Others to suit your needs.

I said that I'd touch on the engine later, so here it is. Your engine choice will depend on how you want to fly. The YT-1300 has poor YPR characteristics ([Spdx 0.8 Acc 5 Dec 5 Pitch 50 Yaw 50 Roll 37.5] - straight from the Pilot FAQ v3.0) so if you want good handling for chasing fighters, you'll need a loot engine with YPR stats in the mid-high 70s (74.5 and better) with the best top speed you can find. If you're looking for high speed for strafing runs, then a Mark IV crafted engine with a top speed of 117 or better is what you're looking for. Either way, when coupled with Engine Overload 4 you'll get handling similar to a heavy fighter back when you were a 2222 pilot.

I fitted mine out with all-elite/POB components.

It took a few days of concerted effort with the asteroid mining to get all the resources though.

slaven - you need to get that cygnus shield RE'd.

Here is how mine is set up.

REed lev 8 reactor , 35k regen

Elite Armor 2800 hitpoints front and back

Elite sheilds 3400/3400 hitpoints

MarkV 119.2 speed 65/65/65 YPR engine

MarkV 50 top speed booster

Elite capacitor, 1600 energy, 52 recharge

REed lev 10 droid interface, 8.5 speed

I think that covers everything.

Oh, weapons...

2 REed lev 10s, 4600 damage 3.5 reifre on one, 3400 damage 3.8 refire on the other

Always remember, to each his own. Find out what best suits you, however these are all good suggestions.

My suggestion is to get guns that have a very high rate of fire. I'm talking .25/.27. I prefer to give my gunners the ability to have a high volume of fire rather than higher damage per hit. With the way targeting works I feel this works better.

Other than that go for high YPR on the engines. Its fun to have high speed but with the POB ships its more important to be able to move.

The most valuable component of this ship is a good crew (at least 2 gunners but better yet 2 gunners, an ops person, and someone to repair-hopefully all on ventrilo or teamspeak. Even better if they're all good at teamwork. With such a group you'll accomplish a LOT. With a poorly-disciplined group you're in trouble. It really sucks when the ops person needs to shunt and there's no energy because the gunners have been holding the fire button down even though the targets have been out of range for 500m, or worse because more than 1 person is shunting constantly without really watching the energy levels. Good people with practice in their jobs and working together are the best POB components you can come up with.

I make null-bolt blasters with .25 refire. I can't see a good reason to use either the ion-style or disruptor-style guns in the POB as once the missiles are gone those guns are your only defense and it's nice to be able to hit anything that comes at you. (there might be some specialized missions where you take shields with guns and armor/subcomps with missiles, but this probably won't be the usual situation). I'd always go max refire (with the rest of experimentation points into shields and armor effectiveness) on turret guns because they can be less accurate than fighter guns, and even less so with an experienced gunner. The visuals look like radioactive blue cotton balls with paper clips in them.

I'd use 2 of those. (250k mass each)

POB shields are about 3500 points front and rear. Hard to beat them. I've heard of some hitting 4k front and rear but the screenshots have never materialized. (250k mass)

My POB capacitor is about (maxed experimentation to energy, then a little to recharge) 1700 energy. With overcharge 4 it gives me over 3500 points to dump into my shields. The increased recharge rate from CO4 can usually keep up with the guns if you get good gunners who know when to lay off . (250k mass for POB capacitor). I'm still trying toRE something from level 10 loot that competes with it.

POB reactors are at least 23k energy (I've only made one of the Y-8 versions, the elite should be better)....you may or may not find a level 8 reactor with uber energy output that beats this. (250k mass for POB reactor, less for level 8-10)

POB armor plates beat anything else in terms of armor points, but are each 250k mass.

Go with RE or crafted engines and boosters, the POB versions suck due to design flaws in the code. I've outrun JSFs with a max-speed crafted, but it sucks to steer. A RE level 8 I made is a lot nicer to drive, but I get owned by every punk in a jsf out there. (under 100k each part). If you want a strafing gunboat style ship , High speed is nice (fly by with guns blazing and be past before they have much time to hit you back). I'm appreciating being able to steer a little better lately.

I have yet to see a better DI than a RE level 10. Around 20k mass is no object on your ship.

Use any missiles and countermeasures you feel like. I made the EM countermeasure to see what it's like, it probably wouldn't work on any ship smaller than yours. I load either mk II Imec missiles or MK II spacebombs. Some argue for concussion missiles.

Stock up on all-purpose ship repair kits and on plasma conduit repair kits. Conduit is the only thing the other kits don't fix.

Anyway, 3.5 mil of mass in POB components, 1.5 mil left over to play with.
