Ok .. just got ahold of my vaksai, and played around a bit getting familiar again with the gun placement... completely in love with this chassis now. They really got me going with this one (I was one of the nuts trying to fit 20 pounds of crap in a 10 pound sack back when the light version was only 30k mass). I'm looking for opinions from other pilots... especially vaksai drivers out there:

what type of engine best performs in this thing? a well RE'd nym's reward? or a well RE'd lvl 10?

what type of DI are you running? would you go for a lvl 10 with a speed of less than 10 and eat the mass? or stick with a prenerf of around 15.1?

use a level 7 reactor with 20k + regen? or shoot for a lower mass high performer and run RO? I ask this as I would "like" to set this ship up to be able to run WO4 and EO4... IE getting ready for the day hell freezes over and theyfix WO3.

also for fun, what kind of gun are you running? IE for sound/bolt/graphics ? I love the sound and look of the corellian gauss, but it's REALLY tough to see that beam.

I use REd 10 for my engine, since I have some good ones, but an 8 wouldn't be bad if that was what you had.

That extra 5 or so PYR doesn't seem like much, but when you add in the fact you can pretty easily run EO4 on an REd engine, and the Vaksai doesn't have much else in the way of power consumption, It reallly becomes a difference maker.

I use the Nym gun also, and I don't mind not seeing my bolts. It's easy to get used to, and once you realize that if you can't see them, the person who's trying to dodge them probably can't either, that's the payoff.

Just remember, with all that mass, sometimes you allow certain systems to bloat a little, the temptation is there, but if you focus on your key systems, and make everything as good as it can be, that's when the Vaksai gets really amazing.

L10 gun and engine, L8 shield, chaff, countermeasures, PLUS tough armor.... there isn't any other regular PvP ship out there that can do all that as well.

I use a level 9 118 speed engine and runs EO3
My reactor is a level 4 1200 generation
A level 3 capacitator, 500 energy, 30ish rechrage
A level 8 RE'd gun, close to 4K max damage
A prenerf DI, 15 speed
A Level 8 looted shield, 2K energy
The heaviest chunks of armour I can find (right now crafted level 8 with 1300 or so armour)
A Mark IV proton launcher
A standard chaff launcher

I'm still looking for parts for REing shields, engine and reactor. The heavy armour is compensating for shield and saves my ass from time to time, since most of the hits you take in a vaksai is glancing hits only.

thanks for the reply bunny =) ... question about countermeasures real quick ... does it make any difference if I use the mark one chaff kit compaired to the higher level, higher mass upgrades?

and yeah... the gauss does take some getting used too, but I can see the beams of other weapons more of a crutch after some practice with the gauss... tracers work both ways!!

The level 8 or 10 engine deliberation stems from what I've seen people post on the top speeds of their QID's, and not really seeing much info on what is still available/dropping for top speeds preRE on lvl 10 engines. My QID hit something around 94.9 and it's hanging up in the shop waiting for parts atm. Still running a worn out pre-nerf Inferno with livable stats, though not exceptionally uber. (IE close to 70 YPR, but not quite)

About countermeasures:
There is a difference. The cheap (and light ones) will never be as effective as the heavy and more advanced ones. This doesn't mean squat in PvE, but in PvP with IR missiles and other junk you can drastically increase your survival timer with the more advanced countermeasures.
