Thread: YKL Nova Courier
The Nova Courier is the proverbial Winnebago of space. It has the best hitpoints, armor and shields even now, yet its the easiest target to hit because of its size and relative lack of agility.
In PvE, with the proper Elite component layout, they are amazing gunships. A pilot just has to set a nice steady cruising pace so as not to overly disturb the gunners with an Ops guy, or a really talented turret gunner, watching the shields. Tier 4 Black Sun duties are a cakewalk.
In PvP, they tend to fall fast out in the open, and are horrible in one on one situations. Given some fighter cover and terrain to work with (asteroid fields), and they can hold their own.
The only way you get good with them is saturation training. Get a crew, get into space and fly until you're sick of it. Learn what works and does not work, and find a style that suits you and your crew.
I love this ship. The interior is simple making repairs easy but its big enough to give the YT 1300 a run interior space wise. Good sheild, Armor and almost 5 milliion mass. Never gonnna run out of room. I've got good RE parts on it and its speed is a match for my X wing and at half speed (around 450) has just as good ypr.
I run a regular crew of 4. 2 gunners, ops/repair, and myslef. Line up a target and find out the sweet spot that allows both guns to target the same ship. Have your gunners co-ordinate which sub system they are aiming at and fly straight turning only to line up the next shot. Have had zero problems PvE in Kessel and against the ISD in Deep Space with just that crew.
Put all purpose repair kitsthrough out the ship and give your regular crewstructure permissionsso anyone can use them. Money wise I split the profit with the crew averageing about 17K each member in loot and cred chips. POBs are just plain fun with the right crew.
