Is the YKL the best rebel ship? By best I mean, has the largest mass, most hitpoints and armor, and good in pve and pvp?

most mass, oh yea try 5mil mass, it is however the size of a large bus, and its a POB only, so that might be a factor. but when pub 24 hits then it should have the best shields armor etc.

The Nova Courier is the proverbial Winnebago of space. It has the best hitpoints, armor and shields even now, yet its the easiest target to hit because of its size and relative lack of agility.

In PvE, with the proper Elite component layout, they are amazing gunships. A pilot just has to set a nice steady cruising pace so as not to overly disturb the gunners with an Ops guy, or a really talented turret gunner, watching the shields. Tier 4 Black Sun duties are a cakewalk.

In PvP, they tend to fall fast out in the open, and are horrible in one on one situations. Given some fighter cover and terrain to work with (asteroid fields), and they can hold their own.

The only way you get good with them is saturation training. Get a crew, get into space and fly until you're sick of it. Learn what works and does not work, and find a style that suits you and your crew.

I love this ship. The interior is simple making repairs easy but its big enough to give the YT 1300 a run interior space wise. Good sheild, Armor and almost 5 milliion mass. Never gonnna run out of room. I've got good RE parts on it and its speed is a match for my X wing and at half speed (around 450) has just as good ypr.

I run a regular crew of 4. 2 gunners, ops/repair, and myslef. Line up a target and find out the sweet spot that allows both guns to target the same ship. Have your gunners co-ordinate which sub system they are aiming at and fly straight turning only to line up the next shot. Have had zero problems PvE in Kessel and against the ISD in Deep Space with just that crew.

Put all purpose repair kitsthrough out the ship and give your regular crewstructure permissionsso anyone can use them. Money wise I split the profit with the crew averageing about 17K each member in loot and cred chips. POBs are just plain fun with the right crew.

You're asking if it's the best of the Rebel ships....just realize it's in a different class than the others. It's set up to fly with a crew rather than asingle pilot, so there are no guns available to you from the captain's chair, and the droid and special commands are all done by the person in the ops chair. As long as you expect to fly with a crew, it's a lot of fun. If they upgrade it like they say they will with pub 24, it should be a lot better in pvp as well, although it's still a bit big and slow-turning in a dogfight.

If you want a great ship to fly solo as a reb, you should check out the advanced Xwing. 180k of mass and it handles like a regular 100k Xwing. But then most pvp types choose thesmaller, faster stufflike A-wings.

Anyway, I just wanted to point out that the nova isn't something you'd typically jump into and take into a dogfight by yourself. It does have 3 missile launchers and countermeasures the pilot can use, but to set up your overloads you'll be jumping from chair to chair, and to fire guns you need to run back nd get in the turret leaving the ship with no driver.

Sorry if this is stuff you already know, I just wasn't sure from the way you asked. And out of all the multiplayer (nonfighter)ships out there (nova, decimator, YT-1300, Y8), the nova is the smallest target and has 3 missiles (unlike the YT which only has 2) and if you're flying solo as a reb you can at least do in-space reload of your missiles.

Ok, I'll stop now before the coffee makes me write a book.
