Thread: Crimson Phoenix 1st Mission for Master
I'll admit... I kind of cheesed that one. I just flew in fast and hard, disabled the decimator, hit /eshields and hypered back to another spot in endor space. Then I flew to the space station, repaired, and waited for it to blow up.
The second part of that mission... oooh boy. I'd suggest getting a helper for that one unless you have CTSS4 and CO3/4 loaded up and are very confident in your abilities. It's one of those "stay alive" missions, and new sets of bombers and agressors keep hypering in before you can disable them all. I was able to solo it once in beta after many tries and some luck, but couldn't solo it after things went live. I finally just broke down and made a deal with a guy that I'd help him do the vette if he helped me with that mission. After that it was easy, as I wasn't the only target. The other guy had to run off to repair in his B-22, but I was fine in my normal X-wing with the reward shield.
I was able to solo every single mission in the Crimson Phoenix track without help except the second part of this mission and the vette, if that gives you any idea of the difficulty. It's probably not the hardest mission of them all, but it's by far the hardest one in the Crimson Phoenix track.

Decimator Killing:
Before you attack anything else, target the decimator's guns. If you pick something like an X-Wing, come flying in dumping all the firewpower you possibly can into the ship. You should take out the vast majority of it's systems, if not destroy it, before you shields drop too low. At this point, you shouldshunt caps to your shields and proceed to deal with the fighters. I actually did this in an A-Wing with a Lvl 8 gun once too, the key is just being relentless and having cap to shield shunt handy.
Survival Missions:
ONLY disable ships. As long as I've played this game, this has worked for slowing down the spawn-rate for fighter waves (just remember that once they auto-destruct more will be inbound). Under no circumstances should you blow a bunch up, if you're having trouble (you can always try and take 'em on too, but I don't recomend that for a novice, as that still gives me some trouble too.
).
Perhaps most importantly, keep a sharp eye out for other adds in-system before reaching the waypoint. Myfirst run through the lastVortex survival mission spawnedright next to the tier 5 droids in Endor, and it wasn't pretty (didn't notice them until AFTERI had15 TIE'spouring fire on me).I don't remember how CP's survival missions were, as I did that so long ago, but you'll want to keep on the alert for similar potential problems. I recomend disabling the nearby ships as that keeps them out longer than destroying them will.
And lastly, if you haven't already, make sure you have loaded up: RO3, EO3, CO3, WO3, and CSS3/4 (I personally use 3 so I have some cap power left to shoot after a shunt). I managed to Solo CP up to mission4 tier 4 before I got to a point where I couldn't advance any more solo... until I tried droid commands. They almost made it trivial in comparison to how hard it was before.

CP in my humble opinion is one of if not the toughest squad to do. It is pretty near impossible to solo without programmed chips. The mission that killed me was that in Tier 4 (maybe the second mission) you run into a full squadron of squints, deuces and trips, plus a couple of nasty shuttles piloted by madmen. They all agro the mission giver and, back in the day when i only used rebel progs this was tough with a full group and a second Imp squad follows the first one. Plus in Tier3 there are patrols of endor that go right past high level swarms of very tough aggressive Imps. However you can solo everything up to the really tough tier 4 mission/s if you keep a calm head, good situational awareness and you dont even need the best equipment or other faction progs. For any mission you have to get to a waypoint and ships spawn along the way, just keep going until you have no rear shield, then fight, or get a mate to fly behind them, flying behind you, shooting them.

I'd like to add in what an overall advantage droid commands can be. I also didn't discover them until Tier3 and space combat for me changed entirely. Adds more strategy to your tactics.
May I also recommend getting a Heavy X-Wing reward ship as soon as you are certed for it. 180k mass and 4 gun slots is just SICK with the right configuration of parts and droid commands running.
