I'm getting really frustrated and wondering if I'm neglecting to do something or the mission is bugged or I don't know what. I'm a privateer pilot 0-0-0-0 on my THIRD mission for the trainer in Mos Eisley. It's a patrol Tattoine space mission that becomes a freighter escort on the third waypoint. I've now lost the freighter toBlack Sun fighters6 times. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I've tried destroying as many fighters as possible, I tried just disabling them like someone here had suggested but that seems to take nearly as long as killing them. Should I have upgraded my training ship by now? Is there a trick to the mission? Please help, I'm really stumped. I do very well against the Z95 commerce pirates and I've never died in combat yet, I just seem to be missing something to pass this mission.

thanks

chris

i did the beginner mish's with little trouble. i believe i was in the start ship until T1, but mbe got a player-built ship early on.

in any event, what i do since i fly alone so far: 1) disable ship on escort mish and destroy if time allows and i can stay near my objective; 2) the pirates make runs at the objectives, so stay close - firing a few shots usually makes them veer off and head away for a few moments; 3) slow to 50-60% so u can turn (follow, actually) with the faster ships to keep them in a firing solution; be sure to targ their reactor or eng - i targ the reactor since they often self-destruct on their own after a time; 4) don't spent a lot of time (no more than a minute) on just one ship - keep them from concentrating on your objective.

if u can buy a player-built ship, get on with two weap slots (dont remember if the T1's have more than one slot), get weaps with shield effectiveness if possible for one slot to take their shield down quickly; have a second weap to burn thru their armor (armor effectiveness) quickly so they can be disabled quickly without much damage to your objective. if your ship can only have one weapon, then get a weapon that is balanced evenly for shield and armor effectiveness.

be sure to learn where your shots will consistently land on their front shields (sort of like having them constantly run into your shots) - this will focus on one shield and armor set so you take them out most quickly. if you divide your shots between front and rear, then youspend more time taking them out, while giving their buddies more time to take out your objective.

long enough post, eh? think that's all the useful advice i have now.
