I'm in the middle of my tier 3 privateer missions and I'd very much like to hear from everyone who has completed them. I'd love to know what ships/weapons/droid commands you used for the missions and any tips you found along the way.

Thanks lovely pilots

did all my tier 3 missions with mostly standard store bought lvl 7 stuff. except for a decent lvl 6 engine i got re'd. a looted booster. and a re'd capacitor. no droid programs either. had a bit of trouble with the third one i think. took me 3 or 4 tries but got it done in the end. oh yea. was in a duelizard.

There was a mission on tier3 that I failed like 20 times in a row. You are stop a ship and pick up a load of weapons. Fight several waves of fighters. Deliver the weapons to another ship which tells you to dock with a third ship. You get ambushed on the way and have to dock while taking fire. Then you finish off the remaining waves.

This mission frustrated the hell out of me and I could not get past it. So I took some time off from JTL and played a certain SOE MMORPG that had just been released. Hated that and came back to SWG. Failed the mission twice more and finally got some help from a couple frineds and walked right through the mission and the remaining tier 3 missions in like an hour. The next day I found out about how usefull droids and pilot commands were in JTL so I got a flight computer and found had I been usingall those commandsI could have done that mission in one or two attempts. Boy did I ever feel stupid.

I had a Kimo, two decent guns (the third drained the capacitor too fast without knowing about overcharge) 800 F/B shields, 12670 reactor.

Some really great replies here!

Caliet, the reason why I posted was because of that same mission you described. It's a killer.

Half of me wants to get a team together to whizz through the missions, the other half wants to solo them so I don't get the feeling that they got the better of me.

thats the exact same mission i had a problem with. heres my advice.

1. its a luck thing. some attempts you get more fighter spawns than others. pray you get lucky.

2. the fighters dont need to actually be killed. they are there to keep you busy and more will spawn as you kill em off. so try and do things quickly.

3. get to the delivery waypoints as quick as you can even if fighters are chasing you. i found out the hard way the ships you're delivering too wont spawn unless you fly upto/over the WP.

4. i wish i'd had droid commands for this. woulda made things 50 times easier. get them!

5. fly a dune lizard. the extra maneurverability will help.

6. remember at all times the fighters arent really part of the mission they are a distraction. get to the wp. deliver the cargo. get out.

Rather than a team I would take one other pilot of similar level. A team makes it too easy but you are entering the part of pilot training where you should start learning how to fly with others. Soloing to master is all well and good but defeats the purpose of a MMOG. Take a wingmate and the two of you could have a lot of fun on this mission.

By the time I did this mission again to help my wife through this one I was already halfway through tier 4 and the mission was a piece of cake so if you want to still have a challenge make sure you don't take too advanced of a wingmate.

(Note about the whole "Caliet" thing - my wife originally bought SWG and did not like it so I took over the account hence the name. Once I started doing well and could instruct her she bought a second copy and before I could stop her she gave the second account a female forum name as well... )

The Tier 3 - 4 Survival guide:

1. If you don't have at least 1 - 1 1/2 hours time to play don't start a mission

2. If you are delivering through or have to survive an ambush you can just hyper to another point IN THE SAME SYSTEM. You will fail if you do this on a destroy mission.

3. I reccommend the following droid commands: Cap to shield shunt, reactor overload, Cap overload, wepon overload, and engine overload.

4. You will face destroy missions that include the next highr tier ships or gunships. On the gunships get behind and below them and target engines. If they turn use IFF scramble andRUN! On the timed, next tier higher ship, destroy missions disable thier engines to keep them from hypering out.

5. IFF scramble works 1 time for the same enemys per battle so save it for when you need it.

6. Get imp friends to help. The tier 4 and Ace imps have bomber strike for the larger targets.

7. Remeber to completely disable the craft, engines and reactor,to dock with it. Also lots of the ships you have to disable are static spawns if you do not get a fail message, if it gets killed, then wait a while and another will spawn.

8. Get friends to help you. These missions are designed for multiple players.

9. Once you reach tier 4 go to kessel and kill rebel gun ships for XP. The gun ships give the best and the rebels are easiest to kill.
