Thread: Why is everyone obsessed with high speed engines?
I like seeing the bugs splat on my wind sheild when I go really really fast.![]()
High speed engines are good for joustingand since Engine Overloads also affect ypr, I like having the extra speed.
I use them usually for PvE since AI's like flying in long looping arcs.
Mainly because the ships turning sweet spot is based on throttle position, not speed.
ie The X-Wing turns best at around 50% throttle, so the faster your engine the faster you move at 50% throttle and the faster you move the easier it is to follow those goddamn TIE's and escape from trouble if you have to. It also seems to make it more difficult for the enemy to get in behind you and able to stay there.
Generally, the faster the engine I have the easier time I have combat.

Ah I knew I have missed something. I thought it was actual speed and not throttle position. A bit strange though IMO.
Well guess I have to try a faster engine againand see if it makes any difference.
Igot an 85 speed angine with 70 turn rates in my JSF and i can tail an A-wing and kill it in seconds.
so the speed is good for me keeping up with the a-wings enough to keep behind them.
And i can turn at the same at half speed as i can at full speed in it too ![]()
