Thread: Cargo Hold and Transport Runs An alternative to combat

This idea effectively has three parts to it;

The Cargo Hold

Every Multiplayer ship would contain a cargo hold. The cargo hold is effectively a region of the ship used primarily for storing bulk resources. Like the loot box, the cargo hold would exist inside the multiplayer ship as a container that can be opened. However, you would not be able to do anything with its contents or add to it while in space. The cargo hold is literaly only accessable via the terminal on the planet. The hold CAN NOT be used to store items, it is purely for transport missions. Items in the hold WOULD NOT add to the standard 75 items the ship can store.

Transport Missions

A transport mission, which could be gained fromboth of NPCs and transport terminals, effectively gives a pilot a collection of items that get stored in his/her ship's cargo hold. The player must then transport this cargo to either a destination in space (via docking with a targeted ship) or to a designated starport or NPC on a planet's surface.

Commodoties Market

Similarly to transport missions, there would be a comodoties market. Players with a multiplayer vessel would be able to purchase comodoties from this terminal which would then be placed in their cargo hold. They would then be able to travel to any system's space station and sell the comodoties in their hold to the station. Certain stations would require certain comodities so for instance, water on tatooine is bought/sold for 1,000 per unit but bought/sold for 500 per unit in Naboo. Therefore, a pilot could buy water from Naboo and sell it to Tatooine to make money. The price variance would not be so high that a player could earn millions from this regularly, but enough to make it a common activity in the game, This essentialy opens up the "transport" and "cargo" aspects that should realy have been in game from the start.... space shouldn't only be about combat!

I love that game... How many companies already make it?

Great idea if they can tip-toe through the various copyrights on that style of game.
