Thread: How does damage work?

Stupid subject title, I know, but my question is a bit too complicated to put into 1 sentence .)

So far all ships i've seen/flown had, well how should I say it, they had 2 weapons for each I installed. Like 1 on the left and one on the right wing.
Or both right above the cockpit.

Well and I also know that its possible to hit with one of those two weapons (of the same actual) weapon and miss with the other, especially if they are far away.

I never really thought about it, but now I fly a TIE Interceptor.

One weaponslot, but it fires 4 bolts.

And it made me thinking.

What happens if only 1 of those 4 hits. Do I do the damage thats mentioned on the weapon? Or only 1/4 of the damage?
What if I hit with all 4 then? 4 times the damage? Doesn't matter if I hit with 1, 2, or all 4 bolts, it always does the same?

Its pretty hard to find out since you don't get combat mesages in space like on the ground.

From putting a RE'd Lvl 10 weapon on the wing of my krayt (and only hitting with one side) then putting in the center hardpoint and hitting with 2, I would guess that you get all the damage if 1 hits of the bolt from a single gun.

But its just a guess

You do in fact get 100% dmg roll on a single stream hit. The effects are just that: effects.

HOWEVER, having guns which shoot 4 lasers or 6 balls or whatever DOES increase your chance to hit by making your shot cover more area.

So to get this straigt:
- If I hit with only 1 of the 4 Intercepter blasts I do full damage
- If i hit with all 4 I don't do more or less damage than with just 1
- Actually its better (in a Krayt for example) to hit with the 3 bolts on the left side (and get full damage for 3 guns, assuming all 3 are same damage), and miss entirely with the 3 on the right, instead of hitting with the 4 blasts in the middle (2 full guns hit) and miss completely with the left and right wing (which is an entire weapon)

Did I get that right?

Anyway, thanks for the answers!
