Thread: Is the Y-wing Longprobe that much better than the Y-wing?

Ok, I got JTL when it first came out, then deceided to drop Master Pistoler for Master Rifleman. I told myself once I mastered Rifleman, I would master Pilot.
So, I finally get my cert for the Longprobe, strip my Y-wing and outfit the Longprobe...
It feels like a TOTALLY different Ship! Is this the way its supposed to be? I just figured I'd get a Y-wing that I can fire both guns with and not carry any passenger.
It feels more nimble, faster straightline speed and I love the additional firepower the turret allows!

Looks like you answered your own question man,
If you like the mass that the longprobe has then youll love the b-wing, if you love the manuverability that the longprobe has over the y-wing, youll love the a-wing, and nomatter what, youll love the x-wing. id say you chose the right faction to fly for

The reb pilots seem to get much better ships in the lower tiers, but I'd say the imperials have the upper hand in the last tier and master box. Altho, I must admit I haven't tried the Bwing yet, but hopefully that's only a few hours away.
The Ywing longprobe is similar to the TIE bomber, except it's less sluggish...IE, it's easier to start turning and stop turning in the LP. And you get it at 2111, as opposed to 3222 for the imp pilots.
From what I can tell, the Awing is a lot like the TIE Interceptor. I didn't fly the interceptor much, as I found it a bit disappointing.
But the Xwing is nice...has a medium-low survivability factor, compared to the YP and bomber, but as it has a lot less mass, this is understandable. Not a bad all-rounder, and the gun spread makes for easy hits lol.
But overall, I prefer the imp top-tier ships.

Yeah I love my long probe. Can't wait to get my x-wing though and that should be pretty soon. They long probe gives you like double the firepower and lots of extra mass. I couldn't believe how much better it was over the regular y-wing.

hey i did just exactly the same thing last night. and i feel a small(but noticeable) difference. i don't think its that big though. but what i wanna know is why all the online guides and Prima guides say that the LP is slower, slower acc/dec, and worse P/Y/R. i realize things change from the time a book is printed to the time a game is made, but what made the dev's change it for the better.
btw, i love the 2 guns!!! dont really notice the mass b/c with my current stuff im at about 45k and i could fit that easily onto my Y-wing anywyas.
