Thread: An idea, and a funny observation.

Why complain about a whole game when in one mission it's not even correct.
Because you were behaving in a fashion that wasn't predicted by mission scripting. Good on you for finding a bug, and I hope you submit a /bug report for it. A bug in a single mission isn't really a big deal.
Having everyone all having the same "unique" item, power, quest sequence, so that in the end everyone ends up as the same character, just with a different colored lightsaber... that's retardiculous. A fundamental flaw in game design is a really big deal.

I completely understand what you're saying, however it's a little less complicated. If you haven't done this mission you might not know what i'm talking about so I'll explain the mission for thos of you that haven't done it. It's the 2nd mission for storm squadron's tier 3. There are several parts to it but i'll only talk about the two that are relevent. The 2nd to last part you have to inspect a tier 4 (I think)nova carrier, It's a named ship that is in the Endor system, name escapes me ATM. There are a few tier 3 or 4 X-wings flying in the same area as the nova. So, to inspect you have to get close enough, wich can be hard if it still has it's guns,soI took the guns out. After inspecting it a mission update tells meI have todock with it. Soyou gotta disable it. K, so that part of the mission is over. Then the next, and final part tells you to take out the command shuttle, or something like that, and the WP is several Km away. SoI fly to it and guess what? It's the exact same nova thatI just had to dock with, which I had to disable to dock. It's not like I had the option to not disable.
So, as far as I'm concerned, break out the flux capacitor and just bring Revan (it's been awhile, SP?), Bastilla, and why not, Exar Kun into the game. Might make the GCW a little more fun.

It would give the IMPs a ship that's equally a pain in the a$$ as the aggressors are to freelance and rebs.
It would not be equally as bad as an Aggressor. An NPC Y-Wing with a turret AI like the Agg turret AI would be many, many times hard than an Agg. A Y-Wing turret has a 360 degree firing arc, so the Y-Wing would not even have to kite you like the Agg does. The turret fires faster and more accurately than the front mounted gun, so a 360 degree firing turret would be extremely deadly to anyone without some piloting experience and decent gear. It would not be the pain that Aggs are for the Rebels, it would be an almost insurmountable obstacle in any Imperial mission they were part of. Krayts are even worse, as the Krayt turret does not have a tilt limitation like the Y-Wing. While I like the idea of more turreted NPC fighters, I do not like the idea of making new pilots have to face 360 degree NPC turrets.

It's an RPG. When two people do the same quest (quests = content of many types) they expect a similar reward (there can be some randomness, but still similar). Is there some other way you think an RPG should function? Can you imagine if new quests were only added to the game when enough new rewards were available so that each of the thousands of people received a truly unique but relatively balanced item? No, I don't like what happens with JSFs and Pearls in Lightsabers and MBH/MCMs and RE'd L8 Reward Shields, but that's what happens when some things are added into the system that function just a bit better than others. It sucks, and I believe it's usually either a result of a little poor planning and balancing by developers or FotM play styles of hardcore games.

I never really thought about the 360 degree firing arc, but i had a few thoughts about it as soon as i read it. I'm sure there is a way to only make the tier 5's in Kessel regular Y-wings, and the rest thruout space Longprobes. If they could turn down the effectiveness of the turret guns a little on the tire 5's in Kessel it could also help. As far as the Krayt goes, they have anough firepower to make up for the turret not being there.
The reason I had this thought was the lack of a ship that really poses a threat, outside of gunboats, flying as an IMP. The awings are basically gnats that take awhile to kill. No offence to PC's that fly em. Just as NPC's they are more nuicance than any real challenge.
