I cleared all of the Tier I missions with the newbie lite tie fighter. I then upgraded to a normal (player made) tie fighter and upgraded my components. I was then able to clear my Tier 2 missions and I am 2211 working on getting exp to fill my third Tier 2 skill. I am doing the Dantooine destroy missions for this since they continually spawn x-wings in my range.

2.) am i able to use droids or do i use the onboard computers (confused here). You need a flight computer and a droid interface. Flight computer will not work with the newbie tie that is given to you by the pilot trainer.
3.) where is a good place where i can solo stuff and not get mobed to badly I was able to level through Tier I without having to grind hunt.
Thank you for any suggestions and help

The tie given to you is pretty good. I tried making one for myself and using looted components and was quickly killed..... When I finished my first tier though, I made my own ship and comoments. Easily 4x better than the oroginal tie.
I started out doing missions around the starting location. After finishing up the first tier, these were too easy, so I made my way out to Lok to level. You don't have to do this though, since most of the areas given to you in your missions are at the correct level for you to fight.
Make sure your ship is good before you decide to venture off. Your starting location may not give you the right feel of how things can get far away from a space station.

Your initial starter ship has everything you need to fly, except a flight computer (and droid interface I think). Use this ship until you can afford a Heavy Tie Fighter. Use the vendor search facility on the bazaar to look for Heavy Ties, make a note of the price and save your cash until you can afford one. You won't need another ship until you hit Tier 4, then you can do the quest for the Jedi Star Fighter and use that to master.
Whenever you land after a mission in space, look at the loot you've grabbed and compare it to the parts in your ship. If the loot is better (and assuming you can use it) add the new part to your ship. The rest of the loot you can either sell to the Chassis merchant in most starports or look around Theed and Coronet for shipwrights advertising for loot, they need loot to reverse engineer to get the schematic for the Firespray, they will often pay more for loot than the chassis merchants.
If you have the money, see what shipwrights have for sale that you can use and afford (assuming that the parts they make are better than the loot you grab).

All Tie fighters use Flight Computers, the only Imperial ship (that I know of) that uses an Astromech Droid is the Jedi Star Fighter.
You can probably wait until you have finished learning all the tier 1 (1-1-1-1) skills before investing in a flight computer. Each pilot tier has certificates for better droids/flight computers and the higher the certificate, the more programs you can store in it.

The missions from your pilot trainers should be within your ability, whilst you can look for fighters to kill in every area in space you can always guarantee a steady stream of enemy fighters from the missions that your trainer provides.
Your trainer will not give you any missions that are above your ability, though once you get to your 3rd tier missions you might want help on some of the missions.
When you target an NPC ship you will see the tier that the ship is. If you're a tier 1 pilot (Novice pilot to 1-1-1-1) the NPC ships that are Tier 1 are meant to be your equals, Tier 2 should give you a good fight, Tier 3 should be very hard. Once you get to the tier 2 skills (1-1-1-1 to 2-2-2-2) your equals will be Tier 2 with Tier 3 opponents being the tougher ships and so on until your reach master.
